~The GOOD NEWS:
DOMS report…. By 7pm last night my hips, butt and lower back were all feeling yesterdays Brand New Butt in a major way…. The muscles feel like I did a strength lower day using barbells... Feels like Cathe got in there somehow… WAY weird as other than my little ankle weights & 3#’er there was no iron involved. YES I’d say Janis did good with this one too! Because my lower is so danged sore I only notice my regular Tony DOMS when I go to lift something. Todays YOGA sounds perfect.

~The BAD NEWS:
I have Plyo X today! OUCH!

I, like Jeanette ordered SQUEEZE workout this weekend… http://www.squeezebytracy.com/abouttracy.php
I got a “real” (vs auto response) email from trainer- Tracy Effinger so I asked her how to best incorporate this workout into my X rotation… Waiting to hear back….
I ABSOLUTELY must not read any more Larajc posts either in her check-in or Open as I buy all her recommendations. She isn’t afraid to go outside the “norm” and also has to be careful of bad back/neck (I think that’s her tender areas) … Anyway- I see my rotations doing 180’s now and after X. Heavy weights- more body weight, more functional, actual “cardio” only 2-3 days a week and more joint respecting workouts that push the muscles in a new way.

After Sandra X post re-stating her goals for past month and sharing about lack of results… and reading all your in-depth long term responses I am also looking at my situation. ARENT THESE DISCUSSIONS WONDERFUL FOR SELF REFLECTION?!
My scale weight is certainly staying down with all the cardio but my BF% is awful and that’s where all my gains first round were. That’s the Clean Eat part.
I do believe that my sugar cravings coincided with increased cardio after the first X round… It was at the same time as that 30 day DR restrictive diet so I jumped to the conclusion that ending that resulted in binges and cravings… When I looked back at my calendar tho it was also exactly timed with post X – increased cardio and increased workout hours per week in general…
I am going to still continue with "doubles" this round but I am going to focus on my workouts that are either really low intensity cardio (Denise * Kathy Smith etc..) and more functional. I’ll be receiving the Sweatfest Kick, HiLo, & Sculptfest this week and the SQUEEZE at some point so that should give me a bit of something that I can work with. Looks like all my Cathe days will be highly modified versions.

Sorry for the lengthy self absorbed post this morning… Had to share and need to come up with a new doubles strategy.

Thanks for reading and I’ll be back in a bit to catch up on all the personals.

Laughter to all today!

Hey Traci,

Just thought I would pop in to say "hi"... your picture trail looks great! you are doing so well! Right now I am in Cathe's "Homemade Slow & Heavy" rotation.. and I alternate with the I-Train treadmill workouts for cardio. Trying to keep my knee in good shape, ( no Plyo or Bootcamp for me!). I miss the P90X rotation. I will probably do it again once my weight starts to go down a bit and my knee/hip are pain free.

Have a great day

Deb

Oh Deb its SO good to hear from you! I see & read your OD posts just to keep contact! Thanks for kind words on pic trail... asyou can read tho- I lost a ton of ground by not sticking with heavy weights post X. So frustrating at times. Hope that knee gets stronger soon & that your are staying injury free! SH is a goodie for sure- I commend you on sticking with that as your weight choice- its pretty intense mentally as well as physically!
Thanks so much for popping in! Do you check in regularly somewhere or is it too time consuming these days?

Good morning!!!

I picked a rotation for myself to follow for the next 4 weeks. It is Fitnessfreak's Get Ready for Summer Rotation. I have Push/Pull upper body (3X) and abs from Cardio & Weights this morning. Looking forward to it. I also have a bike ride tonite (another hill climb with a girlfriend), trying to get the extra climbing in that we omitted yesterday due to my a** freezing off. One reason I picked this rotation is that it has less cardio in it. I need to go grocery shopping right after the bike riding so will bring some clothes to slip over my bike clothes and a hat so I can go in the store and not feel self-conscious. I need to load up on veggies and such for this week. DH is home today and he does some grocery shopping too. He'd better not be bringing home those Kettle Chips. I'll suggest that he hide them better.

Traci, glad you are feeling some DOMS in the butt-talks. How much is the DVD and where did you get Janis' BNB? Sorry you are not getting the results you want (yet). Good for you for examining what could be the difference from last time's results. I'm looking forward to my Squeeze DVD coming. Will be anxious to see where you put that one into your P90X rotation. Would it be just for a lower body day and wonder if it has a lower body premix? I'll have to go back and do some reading. One thing for me that has helped with the puffiness is to only have the 1 carb serving per day, and that is in the morning. Works for me, but remember it being difficult when I first started the X. During my Phase 2, I upped it, but didn't get the results I wanted. Did better after I dropped it back down again. I've been walking most days during my lunch 45 minutes at work (probably close to 1 mile is all), but not with any intensity at all (a fast mosey), more as therapy to just keep my joints moving, and stress relief.

Well, better get my tennies on and get out the weights.

BBL,

Jeanette

Back with some personals

Swifty:::
That UPS dude is just going to appear today- I can feel it in my Tony DOMS! Hope dinner was delightful last night…You sound like you are keeping VERY busy!

Kate:::
DETAILS DETAILS of your first few X days!

Debfer:::
Hope your weekend was filled with fun stuff!

AMY:::
Must have been a GREAT sleep day! Hope you are all set to have a terrific wek… BTW did ya notice on WW that we’ve almost got Cheryl ready to tackle X? !!

TeddyGirl:::
How was that water intake, Scrambled Eggs & Tony weekend? Are we still on track??? Did you get to see those grand-babies?

Wendy:::
No PM novel from our girl???? Whats up with that? I count on you to keep me updated on all sorts of humorous comings & goings! Whats your workout today???

Laurie X:::
How was the singing this weekend? I’m sure you did all your X as planned- You are so dedicated too!

Debra X :::
Do you think all those doggie “air treats” will adversely affect the inspection today???
Fingers & Toes crossed for you!!! Such an exciting time- I know you’ve prayed long and hard for this! What type of workout bra did you find? I usually get the Walmart 6 pack- but I have little “girls” !

Jeanette X:::
Gosh I didn’t realize you had been walking at lunch- That’s probably just a perfect addition to your plan…Gosh I’m so happy you are finding your magic! That gives me great hope that I will be able to put together a non X plan and still be happy! That ride in frigid temps does not sound like any fun at all! You are so dedicated. Cant recall the exact order source on Janis but I always check the actual WWW + Collage + Amazon and order from cheapest source. I never order from Ebay so its one of those 3. There was one of my new ones that was the same price all over – it may have been that one and I believe it was 19.95? I agree that the lower starchy carbs is a key for all us lower body blessed women… Now that I will be omitting high intensity cardio I hope to be able to lower them again this week and not be a cranky tired old bitty! Hope that new throw is exactly what you are looking for… I could sure use some decorating DNA in my house! I do enjoy Billy Blanks.. I doubt I could ever do a Billy Rotation but YES I think he’s a kick booty kick workout. Oh- One more thing about Brand New Butt…. The outfits are quirky! LOL

Sandra X:::
Good grief woman! That poor child! Is this the same one who wandered alone in the snow??? OMG- What stories she will have as she heads to therapist office! ROFLMAO! I am VERY happy that her fall was free from drastic injury but YES- I do think Tracy X is accurate in worrying a bit about CPS ! What an absolute hoot on the grandma phone story…That’s PRICELESS! I keep telling you to write a book…BESTSELLER! LOL on the StrikeZone… I was messing with ya! I would ALWAYS live up to my buy it back policy tho… I just don’t want anyone to spend $ that wont be used. DVDs are getting to expensive these days…The really good deals are harder & harder to find. Thank you for sharing your results plight yesterday…I needed to get off the merry-go-round myself and that plus the wonderful responses did the trick… Sometimes I just cant get a grip on myself.

Lea X:::
Was there Yoga in your evening? Is that one generally difficult to get geared up for (like me!) or was it just a rare rare I don’t wanna day for you?

Tracy X:::
Wondering if the cleaning project is completed yet? Not mine- got a quick vacuum job in for the high traffic areas then took another nap! Hope you get Brand New Butt this week! There are some moves you may need to modify because of your disc but at least it’s a slower more methodic pace so it can easily be done. Happy back to school day.

Gotta get some Magically Hips & ARX completed- then its essay writing day… Then Plyo this afternoon. Starting to take the pics tonight of all the exercises we are required to demonstrate & photo… Will have to find “skinny” workout gear to wear!

Happy Day

Doubles/ Phase 3/ Week 3/ Day 1: light cardio, Chest & Back, ARX

I have to say, those of you doing non-P90X workouts are making me envious. That would be because I'm supposed to do the "Mother" of all workouts today. Grrrr. Not feeling very motivated right now, but hopefully that will change as the morning goes on. Not sure what my light cardio is going to be, yet, as TraciX is deviating from her plan to do IS and BB cardios! How can I blindly follow our valiant leader if she keeps doing stuff I don't even own??

TraciX - what cardio were you planning to do, before you got BNB? And no, I don't intend to order that one LOL! As you can see, I'm pretty hardcore with my Cathe workouts. I'm just so happy with them right now. I wouldn't call it "dumb" that you didn't notice ARX at the end of the workouts. I'm just impressed with your trigger finger. It starts playing so quickly after the weight workout, that I'm not sure how you can miss it for so long. Does this mean that you also missed all those annoying BB promos at the end of ARX? They drive me nuts, especially at the end of the yoga or the stretch when you're feeling all peaceful, then Bam! The volume jacks up and they're yelling at you to buy supplements. Woohoo about the DOMS from BNB. Now you need to buy Tosca's "Butt Book" to go along with it :) So, you're going to reduce your cardio a bit more? It's extremely tough to find that balance that burns calories, but doesn't make you starve. Makes me think that the "You on a Diet" doctors have it right when they say 30 mins of walking every day, plus strength training, is all most people really need, for weight loss, and for general health. There's certainly a big trend in the fitness community right now towards recommending less cardio and increased weight training. And like everything else, it will be trendy for a while, people won't actually lose weight because they don't eat well enough, they'll blame the workouts, and it will be concluded that it doesn't work. Then we'll swing back to high-cardio recommendations, but with some new twist that no one's thought of yet. My goodness, I'm cynical!

I'm glad you all found the latest account of my child-neglect yesterday so amusing. Maybe I should write a book that collects all these anecdotes? Or will that just be used as evidence in the custody trial? At least when DD's go to their therapy sessions they'll have my version of events to refer to.

DebraX's comment yesterday made me wonder: How long do you give a rotation/eating plan to make a visible difference, before you accept that it's not working?

DebraX - you have a busy day today! I hope the inspection goes well. We'll see you tomorrow. Ooohhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

Swifty - that sounded like a fun workout yesterday. I hope you cleared out all the dust bunnies (or Drabbits as someone here said a couple weeks ago).

JeanetteX - Brrrrrr! Just reading about your ride made me grab a blanket and a hot cup of coffee. It's amazing how the climate can change with just a bit of height. We've found it makes for difficult dressing, when we hike through the mountains. Every 10 minutes you're either putting something on, or taking it off. My reproductive urges have gone by the wayside now, too. Thank heavens. But I think if I'd started having children in my early 20's, I'd have had 3 or 4 of them. In the late 30's, the body doesn't bounce back very good. No medication even in 1981? That's so bizarre to me, because I KNOW my mother used epidurals for my brother and I, in 1969 and 1970. She said it wasn't even questioned; wasn't anything fancy or new. And she had us in a very small-town hospital. But I've heard that here in Alberta epidurals didn't become widely used until, as you say, the 1980s. Strange. I'm so pleased that at least one person on this list is happy with their current activity plan and results!! It's refreshing to hear! Have a great time with your workout for today. PP UB 3x will really get in there, and it's a fun workout! I need to grocery shop today, too x( I want to clean up my eating, but yesterday we ran out of all the good stuff. Time to go stock up.

Wendy - did DS make it home from the big city okay? Did you complete SA and YogaX yesterday? Will you be doing KenpoX today? Will DH be doing all this with you? Inquiring minds want to know!

LeaX, Katie, Deb, Teddygirl, Amy, TracyX: I hope you're all doing well today.

Yesterday I did YogaX. Ooohhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm. I haven't done that in quite a long time. It felt really good! The half-moon and half-moon twist are still my biggest challenge with that one. He must be teaching us wrong. Yeah, that's it. I'm sure there's an easier way to do those poses!! I managed to lift the leg during wheel pose, which was a first. That made it feel very different.

The birthday party at the pool was very good. It was held over the dinner hour, and the hosts served pizza, raw veggies, and cake. I planned ahead and brought a vegetable salad with tuna, baby carrots & dip, and an apple. It took me so long to eat all that that I was able to easily avoid the pizza and cake. My total calories yesterday came in around 1500, which was great. And I got some nice compliments on my arms yesterday. Probably the only time in my life I've ever been given a compliment while in a bathing suit :)

Have a great day,
SandraX

Morning Xers,

Will be back later after I am able to catch up on my vacation work. :) And of course it is Monday. Had a busy weekend again, but enjoyed my time with my parents.

Today is Chest & Back plus ARX and a 3 Mile Run. The only thing I didn't get in was kickboxing. Hopefully will be able to get that in tomorrow.

BBL

Laurie

Good morning everyone!! Happy Monday to all. No yoga for me yesterday. I decided to stay outside with my boys and enjoy watching them play, which was a good thing, because I finally got to meet and talk to two of my neighbors and the gals want to go on walks in the evenings. YAY!! Girl power;-) . Today is chest and back(yes, I know Traci, not shoulders and arms). And ARX(think of the panther prowl, like Miss Sandra said, not the sexy walk like I said x( ).

BBL with personals. Talk to you all soon, I hope.

Lea

Good morning,

Push/Pull 2X (called for 3X, but I don't have that kind of time) and abs (subbed CTX All Step as I found out my Imax2/C&W DVD is cracked) is done. Oatmeal is done too ;( . Have a good climbing bike ride tonite, not a toughie but enough to feel it. The gal that's going with me has never climbed this grade before, but she will do fine. I really tried to concentrate on all of the moves in the abwork and tried to "feel" every rep in the weight work. Didn't lift real heavy at all, matched Cathe or did a little less as I've been doing light weights. I swear my 15#ers were dusty. I have hopes that this rotation will "shock" my body again. Anyway, it was a fun workout this morning and I'm feeling "warm" in my upper body.

Hi Fox2! Glad you checked in. Hope the knee is improving.

Traci, OMG, to hear 26 more times for ARX sounds awful!!! Hope you enjoy your yoga today. You know, not sure I've found the "magic", but I'm at peace with my body anyway. Don't feel like I'm overly exerting, but still getting results that I like. We'll see about this new rotation. Maybe it is mostly about the food intake. That's what I'm anxious to see, if I still get results that I like by eating clean and doing different routines to kind of "shock" the system.

Sandra, what cardio are you doing today? Hope it is something really fun for you. I was a dufus and almost didn't wear tights yesterday while riding, but got talked into it by others in the group. I carried them in my Camelbak and when I got to the summit, put them on over the top of my shorts. I think I could have gotten hypothermia if I hadn't with the wind chill of coming down the hill. What was I thinking? Obviously not about much. I'm one to always wear less clothes than everyone else while riding, especially climbing. It's difficult when starting a long ride early in the morning on what you want to wear because later in the day it gets warmer and you will want to strip off the tights, arm warmers, jacket, and then you have to pack them along with you. I always feel like I'm on an expedition of Everest, wondering what clothes to wear and bring along. Better safe than sorry though. When we got back from the ride, I couldn't get into Starbucks fast enough for my nonfat chai latte (grande size). It felt nice and warmed me up inside. PP UB was fun today, and really would have gotten in even better, but 65 minutes was too long for me and I needed to add on abs too. Kudos to you for planning your meal at the birthday party. 1500 calories, good job!!! Hope today will be another good day for you, and also hope there are no more accidents with the children. My grandchildren have had their share of things happening too. They live on a ranch and so are around horses, cattle, 4-wheelers and have had lots of spills and thrills. My DD is pretty laid back, much more than I am, but she's a wonderful mother. So glad you got to hear some compliments on your arms!!! :7 :7 :7 Way to go!!!

Jeanette

Good Morning Ladies,

I didn't have time for personals last night. Had to catch up on laundry, remove staples from settee (what did I get myself into!), and clean out girls' closets. They grow too fast. Oh and do S&A. Half of yoga will be added onto today's to-do list.

Dh didn't workout yesterday. But, he got alot of S&A work in via the remodeling process. He started ripping out the kitchen sub floors in an effort to level and prep them for the tiles. Our farmhouse is ~167 years old. We find a lot of hidden surprises. This was no exception. One of the support joists (?) is rotted. Our friend and my BIL will be coming over the weekend to help jack it up and replace it. Phil had to replace a support beam in our livingroom about 8 years ago. So, he knows what a pain this will be. I doubt we will ever buy such an old house again.

Ds is coming home tonight. He asked if he could stay an extra night and go to the Thai wat in Long Island. He's never seen it or the monks. I told him he could. I asked him if he took part of any Buddah rituals. Told me no, just watched. Then dh and I visited his myspace page and rolled our eyes excessively. Called him with our disappointment and listened to his pathetic explaination. It's difficult to remember how immature we were at that age. LOL They were up late changing his myspace to better reflect the kind of boy he is or should strive to be. I swear he's the reason I pay over a hundred dollars a month for hair coloring services! LOL

Today is going to be busy with homeschool, music lessons, 1/2 yoga, L&B, ARX, grocery shopping, and cleaning. My, I'm ambitious today!

Quickly:

Traci-X: Let me get this straight... You're going to replace intense cardio with steady state cardio, continue to lift heavy with P90X, and try to add in functional fitness? What is considered functional fitness? I wanted to add in barre work, but there's not enough hours in my day. Actually, I'm too lazy to make the time for it.

SandraX: Let me get this straight... You're going to go back to P90X workouts (not subs) for a week. Then you're going to do circuits the week prior to your vacation?

All this talk of changing your rotation has my head spinning. I understand that most of it is diet and/or appetite related. But, I'm hungry all the time regardless of my physical activity. Hmmm, maybe if I sleep ALL the time, I could lose weight. I hear it works for bears. LOL

A quick shout out to all my fellow Xers. Hope you get everything on your agenda accomplished today.

Wendy

Good morning,

TeddyGirl:::
CONGRATS on achieving so much this weekend! How are you enjoying your new rotation?

Wendy:::
LOL on head spinning- mine too! Just know that if you do X WITHOUT any modifications its magic…Lol on Yoga ½… if ya wait a day or two more its back on rotation anyway!! Good Luck with all you have to do today… I gotta get busy SOON

Laurie X:::
Glad your time with parents was good- Did ya get your dad in a downward dog just for laughs?

Jeanette X:::
I agree that most of our success is with our food choices as well… Keep good vibes for a strong clean week for both if us! AWESOME job with PP x 2! You are so consistent…That’s the other key I think.

Sandra X:::
Way to go on yesterdays eating! That’s real success in my book. Oh my on wheel pose- I stay in the lower weenie version! Good job. LOL on the no cardio theory future… I wish someone would write a 2 page book that just says…. Nothing works for every person + Nothing works if you don’t actually do it + nothing works if you are stuffing your face with crappola! Don’t think it would sell tho! Oh dear don’t follow me at all ! This is not my model round of X at all! Its turning more into an X Weight work + Traci’s not so smart doubles…. Maybe its time to pull off the X round 2.

Lea X:::
LOL on Yoga- Aint no thing! Glad you had great DS’s bonding time. NICE having gals to walk with in PM!

STILL haven’t accomplished 1 thing on my to do list…. DID get sheets changed & washed tho!

Happy Day

Tracie: thank you, I'm enjoying the X very much :)

I’m mad this morning, after leaving Cleveland Clinic I stopped at Mustard Seed, need steel cut oats and a few other things. While on my way to work Mr. Policeman stopped me he said I was going 50mph in a 35mph. I got a ticket ARGH, I told him you can’t give me this ticket I’m saving my bucks for Cathe’s new workouts. Not sure how much but I bet it’s around $100, that’s so sad…….

Let’s talk chest & back, do you guys know what? I'm still can’t move my upper body, I am so sore, x( need to work it out,x( I can’t wait till tonight to do shoulder & arms.

Yoga is scheduled for tomorrow, but not going therex( I'm going to sub yoga for butts & guts, or lowmax and do 30 minutes of X stretch who knows……………

Before, surgery, I was told to eat something fatty:p I got just the thing, tomorrow, after my workout 3 slice of bacon w/4 egg white. That should hold me :9 they want me to stay 4 hours afterwards for observation, so maybe should pack something else bc they are not going to feed me.

Today's Eatery:
M1: 1c flax plus cereal w/sm banana, 1 c of ff soy milk
M2: 1c meatless chili w/7 wheat crackers
M3: cabbage w/sirloin steak, eggplant
M4: whey protein
M5: after work ??????????????

Hi all,

We just got our power back after it being off for about 8 hours. I got up this moring and made instant coffee by heating up some water over 3 candles. Can you tell that I am addicted? I got to work, and then they are closing schools early because of severe wind gusts predicted for this afternoon, ~60mph. It is in the 40s and with the wind feels very cold.

Yesterday I did yet another pushup/pull up medley. It just works so well for me and targets the core at the same time. Then 10 minutes of step and 30 minutes on the bike with enough intensity to break a pretty good sweat (yeah!), then magically hips.

Today is 10 minutes of step, some light lower body work, 30+ minutes on the bike, and some yoga, not sure what just yet.

Traci - As much as you are working out, if you are not getting the results that you want, maybe you need to revamp your diet and look at your cardio. Not the total calories, well maybe, but the content. I think that your cardio truely has to be purposeful. Do you rotate HITT, SS, intervals etc? What are your goals? I personally never feel tight when I do a lot of cardio, especially distance running at a slower pace. It turns my muscles to mush, with the exception of cycling. Maybe it's time to get that bike out. I'm not sure that low intensity cardio is going to solve your body composition problem. Yes it might curb the cravings, but I think you would be better off doing higher intensity shorter sessions where you are really working the muscles hard and maybe only 3x per week. JMO and something else to contemplate. If you haven't done cardio like that recently, then maybe it would be a good shock. Sorry to present that idea, since you seem to have decided on lower impact.

Jeanette - I'm with you on limiting the carbs. It has worked for me too. Sorry the weather is crazy, it is here too. I wonder if this is really an effect of global warming. It's kind of scary. Glad you found a rotation to use. I'm still rehabing. My goal is to be doing some impact in less than a month.

Sandra - Great job on the meal at the birthday party. Once you get into the habit of making good choices it's not hard. There is a curve to get over as far as people's reactions. Fortunately I've gotten to a place in my life where, for things that involve me personally, I could care less what other people think.

I'll catch everyone else later.

Tracy

Hi ladies..Sorry, no time for personals now...probably won't have time until this evening...but I did a long walk with the pup this morning so that must constitute as light cardio, right?!? I am planning on getting yoga in tomorrow as it looks like I won't have time to get it in today.

SandraX...I think that you have to give a rotation at least a month to see results...assuming you are eating clean, sleeping well and all other contingencies are normal...I actually think that 6 weeks is a better stretch of time...Just my opinion....I am certainly no fitness guru...just my personal experience!

Okay...That's all I have time for now...Just wanted to respond to Sandra...the child abuser.

later gators...wish me luck in the inspection!

Todays workout missions accomplished... I'm toast}(

TeddyGirl::: Ohhhh no – a speeding ticket??? Didnt you explain that your legs were like lead from Scrambled Eggs & Plyo X???? LOL on Chest & Back! I know girl- I have NEVER felt Chest DOMS before (except PUB) until Tony… I’m still toasty from my last session too! So tell me how B&G or Lowmax is a Yoga X sub??? Am I missing a correlation here? You silly cardio queen… take Sandra by the hand and you two just jump on over to cardio-land & cardio your little hearts out! What surgery??? Did I miss a post??? AND you get to eat??? WTH kinda surgery is that??? Whats going on missy??

Debra X :::
More good vibes coming your way!!!

Tracy X:::
Could I just reach thru your screen and give you a big ol hug??? You are always a voice of reason – you give your posts so much thought and insight… I very much appreciate all you offer and all the time you take for each of us in our de-rails. Do you ever de-rail? I want to learn to be just like TracyX! What a day for you guys? Power outage- storms- frigid temps…. Gosh I bet you are very flexible! On your thoughts… YES my diet is back on track to what is good for me (as of yesterday)…Cravings gone and energy up a bit already. I also have had 2 days without heavy duty cardio as well so I am not hungry all the time and light headed. Heres what I have planned for my “doubles” this week. …
Today: Magically Hips Yoga
Wed: Kick – Low Intensity Killer Kicks (drills no bounce)
Fri: 30 minute Cardio Coach 1 Interval Run
Sat : 30 minute Denise
I think that’s all my body can handle to show definition… I have done so much heavy intensity cardio the past 12 weeks that I’m almost bacj to the days I swore I’d never go back to. Muscle makes me burn fat- I proved that last time so what am I doing here? In X (rd 1) I did very little extra at all in phase 1 & 2 and that was when my BF plummeted… Ph 3 I added it in because of boredom and saw very few results… My eating was of course cleaner and more consistently (although Thanksgiving & Xmas & New Years was in there)…ANYWAY… I agree my cardio needs to stay varied and be focused for its intent… I guess same rules apply to cardio as strength…What are my goals should always be in my head. Thanks again for all you are to this group… If any of you were to leave I’d feel so lost most days. Thanks for being you!

Happy Afternoon!

Tracie, yep, they want me to eat a fatty breakfast. I have NO problem with that one, bacon & eggs here I come:9 with toasts and jelly, :9 :9 Well ladies, going home now. Be back on Wednesday

Have a great evening all.

Teddygirl~

Hello ladies. Today has been crazy, so this has been my first chance on here. Well, I had a weekend full of Tony.

Arms and Shoulders - I liked this workout, but I'm so used to just matching Cathe on all her weight in her workouts that I had no idea where to begin with Tony. I like the fact that he does some really different movements than Cathe. I was so sore all weekend in my arms that I couldn't tell if it was left over from Chest and Back or if it was from this workout. And boy oh boy was I sore!!!

Yoga - Okay, I actually LOVED this workout. I've never done Yoga before so let me tell you, there were several times when I yelled at the TV "Are you out of your mind.... you want me to do what???" I actually really like Tony in this workout too. He was so calm and understanding of the fact that not everyone can get there leg there or bend that direction. There were a couple comments he made too that I was laughing pretty hard. I like the comment he made about yelling a little too loud for yoga.

Legs and Back - As many have said in the past, I don't think this leg workout is going to cut it for me. Especially since most of them use no weight. I added weight on some of the lunges and squats. I did get a good burn on some of the exercises, but I feel like I need more. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to do pull ups without a dang chair!!! Crazy thing is that I burned more calories on this workout than any of the others so far. Oh, and that Ab Ripper is HARSH!!!

I am looking forward to Kenpo tomorrow. Then I'll be done with my first week. It will be a rest day (although I think I'll try the Stretch workout) and then back to Chest and Back. Yikes!!!

How many of you added extra cardio/weight training??? I am thinking I'd like to add some running in on the shorter days, but I also know that too much cardio can reduce the effects of your weight training.

Welcome to the wonderful world of X! I am so deeply impressed with how you have embraced week 1! I just LOVE that you LOVE the workouts! Tony is a crack up... Just when you think you cant do anything else he either makes you laugh or pumps you up to just Do Yor Best! What an awesome coach he is.

As far as cardio- all I can tell you is my Round 1 experience and Phase 1 results round 2...
I have always been a cardio addict and for a year prior to Tony I was up to almost 3 hours most days to try and rid body fat... I was making ZERO progress... Along came X.... I did Classic with no added anything for phase 1- I lost amazing amounts of BF and gained definition that left me in tears of joy.... Eating was 75/25 as Thanksgiving fell in phase 1, Phase 2 was Christmas... eating was 70/30.... I added a little extra cardio 1-2X a week and had fabulous results! Phase 3 .... eating 85/15 and I added 4-5 days of extra cardio..... minimal results.
This round I am eating 60/40 x( have been doing alot of extra cardio 5-6 days a week and am shifting strategies this week due to lack of any results....

This is just how my body responds to exercise tho... everyone has a different tale.... I suggest that unless you already exactly how to get all the results you desire do X as produced and keep eating as clean as you can... The truth is you'll never know how your body responds to this type of training unless you do it as written. I didnt think the leg work was enough either but by my first recovery week my legs were leaner and more defined than ever in my life and I used to be an aerobics instructor!

For me- I had to see it to believe it- I'm going back to that thought process moving forwrad... Phase 1 this time has been a re-learning and I hear little Tony on my shoulder today saying... Told Ya So.... Back to the X way - its proven.

Hope that helps-
Congrats again!!!! Its so exciting once you get rolling!!!!

Teeeeeen HUT!!! Sargeant Sandra has her drill hat on and is going to make some decisions around here!

Private SandraX! Listen up! You will continue as you have been for the past 2 weeks, but YOU WILL EAT BETTER!!! You're no idiot! You know it takes time for results to show! You also know that the problem last week was food related, not your workouts! AND you know you're a junk-food addict from way back! It's in your genes, for heaven's sake! You only have to look at your paternal relations, their various addictions, mental health problems, and physical size to know that you come from a family that medicates with food! Get real, Chick-o!

Co-Commander TraciX! Don't go abandoning ship now! What will all the newbies think if we quit just as the going gets tough? Hm? Who's going to believe we got through one round of this already? Come on! We're here to support each other to persevere, not enable each other to go all soft and mushy and whiny! You WILL stick with P90X Round Two! You've only got to do ARX 26 more times!

TracyX and DebraX! Good thing we have you two around to tell it like it is! TracyX, you're exactly right that part of eating well is the adjustment period for other people. The sad thing is, I used to always be the one to bring my own food, etc. I'm sure they called me all sorts of pseudonyms for "health nut" behind my back. But then I got pregnant with DD#2 and haven't been able to get back to that way again. So now I have to go through all that again, and I know they already think I'm strange enough, what with my working out and all. Oh well, it's my life, right? I don't need their approval. LMAO about heating your coffee over 3 candles! Could you not have just driven to a coffee shop that wasn't affected by the blackout? What caused an 8 hour blackout, btw! Ugh! Nice workout today. I have to hand it to you: you're very dedicated with your pull/push ups. Excellent work.

Wendy, Amy, Swifty, Deb, Katie, Teddygirl! Ignore these whiners! Their t-shirts will be designed to fade in the wash real quick. You all will finish with flying colours, and then you can kick sand in our faces.

Okay, I've done enough shouting for today. Oh, one more: TraciX! What are you doing reading this? Get back to that essay! I want to read it when you're done!

TraciX - Private Sandra posting here. I locked the sargeant in the closet. Man, what a bully. I love your idea for the 2 page book! But since you summed it up so well in one sentance, what would the rest of the book say? You could just put in pictures of your dogs :)

LaurieX - I look forward to hearing more from you later. Sounds like you're very busy, as usual! Enjoy the run!

LeaX - oh how nice to have some company for evening walks! That sounds lovely. I think I'll be a Good Mom today and take DD#2 to the park for a bit. It's a beautiful day. Heck, I might even let her play for a bit while we're there :)

JeanetteX - IMAX2/CW dvd CRACKED?! AAAHHHHHH!!! I'd be rushing to replace, but I wonder if you'll spend the money, given you no longer do much step cardio? I like hearing about your daughter. You don't talk about her as much as your sons. Does she live near you? I'm also glad to hear "accidents" and "good mom" in the same sentance. Makes me feel better.

Wendy - put some linoleum over that hole and move!!! My goodness that sounds like a lot of work! Super busy day for you, too. I don't know how you do it. I'm going to stick with what I've been doing: the Doubles rotation, with Cathe subbing anywhere I choose, except the upper body weights. Next week I might do the circuits & cardio as my own version of a recovery week (I don't like the P90X recovery week), or I might do the 4th week of heavy training, and let my week away be the recovery week. It will depend on how I feel at the end of this week. But DON'T YOU SUB!! You're not allowed to, the first time through! Tony will come to your house and take your workouts away! Yes, even your Cathe's!

Teddygirl - I love your real name, btw. Why don't you use it? What's this about a liver biopsy? I don't mean to pry, as I sense that you aren't the sort to pour it out on the table, but am concerned that you don't appear to be taking any time off of working out? Don't you need a day or two off, at least?

This morning I did the little sister of LowMax: Low Impact Step, Chest & Back, and ARX. My glutes, hip flexors, and hamstrings are all talking to me today, after doing Strikezone on Sat, and YogaX on Sun. LIS was perfect; helped me shake out some of the lactic acid build up without making it worse.

Chest and Back was....well....Chest & Back! I was dreading it, because I know it's intense, but I have to admit that when I get going, I just love it. Makes me want to grunt like Tim Allen ooh!ooh!ooh! Great workout! My back is so nice and toasty, especially since I've finally gotten some heavier dumb bells for the back work.

Does anyone get distracted by the horse-neigh during ARX, at the start of the v-up sit ups? Gets me every time. Wish I could delete it.

Okay, if I'm going to be that Good Mom I talked about, I'd better get going.

TraciX! Are you done your essay yet? No posting here until you're done! (Oops, someone opened the closet. Sorry!).
