Good Morning !

I can't believe I am first here today.. well this is the end of week 3 for me.. I subbed Cathe's KPC for KenpoX today.. it's that yoga! Yuk! I think I am going to get a beginner really basic yoga dvd and use that for a bit. I got really discouraged the first time I tried Kenpo and now I am turned off a bit towards it.

Anyway will check back in later to see how everyone is doing today!

Have an "X-Cellent" day!

Deb

Morning Deb- You are turning into quite the early bird! Need to run back & read personals from yesterday so I'll be back as well.

P90X is going to be P92X for me.... the bug I have had on & off all week took me down yesterday and I headed words of warning & advise and took a rest day. I am feeling much better today but am going to take 1 more rest day to be sure this time.

GREAT NEWS! Week 5 and my BF% is starting to plummet! Thats huge for my body as it has been painstakingly slow go in that area!!!
I was down only 1% after 4 weeks and down almost 2% just this week... Thats 3% in 5 weeks. WOOHOO - doing happy dances and re-taking readings all morning to make sure I wasnt seeing things!

Deb: What happened the first time you did KenpoX? I cant recall if you already told us so sorry if you did. I think its so sad when any workout is a total turnoff... feels like a waste of $$ and thees always that thing long term about variety that I like. Whatever it was I'm sorry ... I like Kenpo as my # 1 KB choice now and see myself doing it on non P90X rotations as well.

Going to read personals & get more coffee!!!:9

Hi X-ers!

Received my P90X box set on Wed. and have been busy stuying and planning. Remember that time? I am very encouraged and would love to start before Jan. 3rd but I know I won't be 100% diet compliant until after the 1st. The anticipation is actually exciting.

It's interesting to read all the reviews and personal feedback on Tony's style and the individual workouts. Well, I love Tony and love every workout...including Kenpo...which a lot of people don't like. I am a Yoga girl so I even like YogaX. I jsut want to follow the program as outlined with the least amount of subs. I even find the nutritional plan practical.

I am planning on doing the Lean rotation followed by the classic.

That's it for now. I'll be in and out until Jan. 3rd!!!

X

Hi all,

Traci: If I remember right, the first part of Kenpo was yoga, and then there was some plyo moves ( which I like) before he got to any kick boxing. I found that I could not do most of the yoga moves, so I sat there and did mosting ballistic stretching until it got to the other stuff. I remember I felt kind of cheated so I thought, today I will break and do Cathe so that I got some cardio in and KPC seemed good for a sub,

"X"- ( what a good name!) Hope you love this series as much as the rest of us here. Keep checking in because there is a lot of info that is helpful before you start, like those assisted pull ups! wow. I bought the over the door attachment and some heavy duty tubing to use until I can do the pull ups.

Have a great day

Traci- This is great news! You must be doing the "happy dance! Hard work pays off. I am almost afraid to take the measurements. I know the last time I weighed myself I had not lost any weight so I decided not to do this too often just go by how I feel and how my clothes fit.

Morning Again!

Deb: hmmmmmmm you may want to take a peak @ Kenpo again... Other than warm up (that is very yoga-ie) he goes right into arm drills... I usually do a short Cathe add on first so I skip the Kenpo warm up (at least thats what I call it!)and get right into it... I do enjoy doing Tonys warm ups as my stretches actually. If I'm doing just Tony on Kenpo & Core Syn day then I flip flop his warm up & cool down. Just feels better for my body that way. Just a suggestion

X: I am excited for you! I was like a kid on Christmas when I gt that dang box...I still (wk 5) re-read the 2 manuals because I think I was just getting information overload. I still pick up a point or 2 that I swear wasnt written there previously!;-) You just pop in & out whenever you want.. we are such an excited group here! I cant wait to get done... take a 4 week break back to Cathe and then jump back in for another round!

Jeanette: Nice to hear that Yoga may actually get easier! How long have you been doing it? You seem well versed. RE: My adding cardio... I only add about 20-30 minutes mainly because my body was so accustomed to years of 1-2 hrs of intense cardio that I was concerned that if I dropped too much too soon that my body would freak out. Not sure theres any logic at all to that but it was weighing on my mind.... I would love to get to a point where my workouts are always within 1-1.5 hrs max. That may just happen by the end of P90X - what a wonderful extra benefit that would be to me!

Buffy: Thanks for tips on Core Syn,,, I'll keep workin' it! Enjoy your dauy off today and your Doubles workout!!! BTW: Biceps DOMS are a first for me too! LOVIN' IT

LAURIE: How are those Shoulders & Arms today? Thats about when my DOMS start. Seems you are really enjoying program...thats a very good thing!

TRACY: You're bring it! High 5 on all you are accomplishing w/ program. Just curious... how many assisted pullups can you do now??? I dont have a bar so I'll never know but the band works JUST FINE for me! lol

LEA: LOL on Plyo X comments & being on the floor.... Thats how I feel about Core Syn! Wiped out completely Enjoy Legs & Back today!

Sandra: I sent you a PM yesterday hope you got it.. You crack me up- I swear my arms/shoulders get a VERY GOOD w/o with Yoga... You are too strong for your own good! & flexible too I might add! I am so happy for you that your body is starting to respond to eating plan. When your bodys happy then the world seems grand!

Hi all,

My delts were really burning doing yogaX last night. It had to be because it followed back and biceps. That workout is deceptively hard and I compounded the intensity by doing deadlifts the day before. I won't do that again. I just can't believe the progress I have made on my abs. Even on bad days they are almost flat.

Fox2- Maybe you should give kenpo X another try. I think that the stretch at the beginning is one of the best. After that, the routine is fairly straight forward. I hesitate to sub Cathe because I really think that the moves in kenpo x are strategically chosen and compliment the program. JMO.

x - I know the anticipation feeling. I read the manual and looked at the diet. Because of years of poor diet, I just can't put myself on a diet, but I'm finding that I'm working so hard that I can easily pass up the chocolate cake; Most of the time. It's just not worth it anymore.

Buffy - Core syn is one of my favorites. I got the most DOMS in my abs that I've ever gotten. I'll be interested to see what you think of the pullups today after Wednesday.

Laurie - I love shoulders and arms. It's a good thing that the program starts with the fun stuff, because phase 2 is hard.

Traci - I can do 8-12 one leg assisted pullups for almost all of the versions. Whatever I've been doing, I haven't developed the muscles needed to get myself up from the bottom of the pullups or chinups. That definitely was a hole in my previous program. I have to wonder how many people can do unassisted "corn cob" pull ups. I think that you are wise to take some rest. You and I must have come from the same era that suggests more is better. I'm starting to realize that it's not.

Brian Kest is a good yoga substitute. The first one is pretty easy, but still includes a lot of the moves. Just a thought.

I hope everyone has a great day. It's legs and back for me this afternoon.

Tracy

Good Morning!!

Just had my healthy breakfast and looking forward to Legs and Back today. I'll do my yoga abs later.

Traci - good job on the BF. Keep up the good work.

Still feeling DOMs in my biceps. I'm very happy about that.

Buffy

Good morning all!

I finished with legs and back (looks like we are on the same schedule Buffy). ARX was a killer for me today. Must have been because of the yoga abs yesterday. I just having to keep thinking six pack, six pack, six pack.

Deb - I don't remember too much yoga in Kenpo X. But do whatever works for you. If you don't like it, then you don't like it.

Traci - Yay!! Congrats on the bodyfat. What a great feeling. I hope that you feel better though. That is always a bummer when you get sick during a program like the X.

X - How very exciting for you. I received mine on my birthday and that was all I could think about. I think I waited a week to start the program and it was the longest week ever!! I too still look over the manual.

Tomorrow is Kenpo X and then rest day, yay. I FINALLY can sleep in on Sunday (we wake up at 5am to do workouts, crazy I know). Kids are going to grandma's and grandpa's this weekend, so I get to chill. Have a great weekend everyone!

Lea

Good morning!

A quick line from me this morning: Legs & Back are on tap in about 45 minutes. I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to go reread some threads from the chin-up check in to see if I can get some tips for this workout.

I am sore today. These workouts are just layering on the DOMS. My glutes are the new sore spot today, from all those lunges in YogaX.

Traci - yup, I got your PM! :) I'll try to reply soon. I'm buoyed by your BF drop!! AWESOME!!!!!!

BBL,
Sandra

Morning X'rs,

Today I have the day off of work with every intention of getting some Christmas shopping done. It is so cold here that I changed my mind and I'm going to fill the house with the smell of cookies. :) I still have vacation time so I can take another day for shopping.

I finished YogaX this morning and I feel really stretched and refreshed. Ohmmmmmm! :D Yesterdays S&A was great, lifted 15# for shoulders and 20# for biceps, 8&10 on triceps. He says to bring it with those last three so I had to up some of the weights right! :D I'm sure I will be feeling it later.

Deb, it sounds like you are talking CardioX, that one has three different things in it Yoga, Plyo, and Kenpo type exercises.

Off to mix up some dough or pop popcorn for caramel corn. :9

Have a great day!

Laurie

You are all correct! It was CardioX I was thinking of. Not sure why I subbed it for KenpoX?? I have to go back to my workout log and figure out what I was thinking! I think I am ready for a recovery week! My knee is getting worse. I am going to do something ( maybe try some of yoga X on Sunday) then take off for 3 days when I am in DC and see if my knee gets better.

Good morning ladies!

Today was Legs & Back, and AbX for me today. Loved the leg workout. I love that this has so much variety to it. I feel like I really brought it throughout the workout, though I struggled a bit in AbX. I did make it to 50 for the mason twists WOOHOO! I felt like Legs & Back was a cardio workout for me at times so that's good. Afterwards, I made a drink of 1 scoop of whey protein, 1/2 banana, 8 oz. of fat free milk and a dab of peanut butter. Does this constitute a recovery drink or do I need to do something different? I don't know about you ladies, but this is my first week and I'm already feeling leaner, not retaining water. Love it so far, but I know that it will get harder. I just love it because it is definitely different than the workouts I was doing. My body had adapted so well to those.

Deb (Fox2), I have Kenpo tomorrow. Hope I like it as I'm not real big on kickboxing, but don't detest it. I'm looking forward to doing it. Hope your knee starts feeling better.

Traci, glad you are better today. A rest is doing you good. Way to go on the body fat going down. That's one of my goals with this program. I have a Tanita bodyfat scale and I've never seen it below 25% for me. I'm hoping to have it drop a few % by the time I am done. Traci, I haven't done a lot of yoga, but I own a few: Eoin Finn's Power Yoga for Happiness, Shiva Rhea's Yoga Shakti, some Brian Kest (I'm thinking is would be a good sub on some days) and a few others. I'm not all that flexible, probably about average. I really have type hip flexors and have a hard time getting my legs straight for moves where you are supposed to keep them straight. I just have had a hard time making the time for yoga, though I know I should. I've just been so much into "more is better" of the cardio and weights. I'm thinking that's been wrong, though I've heard it over and over. I love this muscle confusion thing.

X- I thought about waiting until January to start, what with Christmas and all, but then again, I'm thinking doing this will help motivate me to stay away from the cookies this season. Keep checking back.

Tracy, wow, Phase 2 gets harder? Gulp. I agree, I think Bryan Kest would be a good substitute for YogaX. I remember some parts of one of my tapes where my legs were just shaking trying to hold onto "airplane" or something.

Buffy, hope Legs & Back is as good for you as it was for me. I really did enjoy it. Have you done it before? Where are you in P90X time wise?

Lea, AbX was harder for me today too. Wonder why? Maybe the YogaX yesterday? Enjoy your rest day and sleeping in on Sunday. Usually I do a group bike ride on Sundays but looks like we may have snow so probably no ride.

Sandra, Legs & Back today too? Are you on the first week like me? Hope you love the workout like I did.

Laurie, wow you are using awesome weights. I've never done 15# for shoulders. I'm always afraid of hurting them. Being too careful for me probably has held me back at times. I'm not making cookies today, but am making an apple cake for my Mom's birthday party tomorrow. I love to bake but can't keep anything around the house.

Got to run, have lots of things to do today.

Jeanette
