WWers Last Wk of May/First wk of June

Shereta: If you happen to look, what group are you in on sparkpeople? you are so darned cheerful it would be nice to see how you are doing sometimes..

Wendy and Stacy: no way implying you gals are not;) Shereta seems so mother earthish ykwim?

Hi Ladies,

I see Shereta has jumped ship, I'm going to miss her! At least she's found something that's working for her. I just reviewed the Dukan Diet and it looks far too restrictive for me. Shereta-so glad this program is working for you! It's nice to see such quick results!

I started STS this past week and am enjoying it. I stay on track so much better when following a rotation. Lately I've just been doing my own thing, alternating between cardio and weights.

Steph-No suggestion on the name. If we leave it as is, but are not following WW it could be confusing to newbees. I have a polar hr monitor and it hasn't been working very good lately:mad:. It's about 3-4yrs old and I send it in each year for battery/maintenance. It hasn't been working right since the last time I got it cleaned and a new battery back in Oct.

Stacy-I try to eat healthy most of the time, but have a terrible chocolate addiction. Like Wendy mentioned, I feel better when I eat better too. I can't imagine working in a clean environment where no food or drink is allowed. Good Luck with the Dukan Diet if you decide to go that route!

Wendy-catch you in the DC checkin'!

Okay, Yall are really killing me. I'm super swamped right now. But, I'll be back in a day or two to post my progress. In Sparkspeople, my name is Shereta1. I started a blog there too.

Mother - ish. wow, that's a first. Thank you, I think.

Smoochies, Shereta

Aww, Shereta...no guilt trips intended by us! We'll have to stalk you at Sparkspeople now ;)

This morning's weigh in was ugly but just the kick the rear I needed. I gained 3 lbs, now I've officially regained more than half my weight back since starting!

I'm going back to what I know works and that's tracking my points AND making my points more protein, veggies and fruits. I really think I need to make June my no dessert and no potato chip month!

I'm going to finish reading the Dukan book but so far I doubt I'll follow it strictly but I will be incorporating some of the concepts into WW. I do like the idea of a 20 minute walk every day. I'd hope I'd have time for at least that everyday, but not going to stress over that. Food is my main focus at the moment!

Shereta: I meant in a good way....my students say they wish i was their mom and i take it as a compliment:) You are just wise..
I'll be stalking you on sparks (kidding...maybe) :p
Stacy: I hear you loud and clear girl...I am on day 5 of no deserts, candy etc...not as bad as i thought it would be...surprisingly the hershey kisses haven't been calling to me...wait..i here one.."stephanie come and eat me...you know you want to..." NO I will not!

In Toscas book she says that 80% is what we eat and 20 % is what we do exercise wise! wish it were the other way around:mad:

Stacy have you tried orthotics in your running shoes? I had a patellar subluxation and did 2 years of physio (3X a week...was a work injury)and in the end the orthotics did the trick... I am NEVER without them now....even around the house..amazing difference..

How are the rest of the gals doing??? Wendy, rmrmr

Morning Girls.

This morning's sweat was the original IMAX 1-3-5-7-9 + KCM NYC Body Sculpting abs.

Weighed in and was happy to not only see a quick recovery from my weekend and TTOM but to also see myself back down to the # from 2 Fridays ago-I was up .2 this past Friday if you recall-so now I am really hoping for some sort of loss this week! Fingers crossed!:)

Stacy:: Wow. I give you tons of credit for being able to do a job in an environment like that! I constantly have a drink or some kind of food at my desk! But by the same token I am often bored at work  and would sometimes give my left arm to be busy and not thinking about food all the time which is exactly what I do when I don't have much work to do.

Steph:: Good job giving up the sweets! All of my sweet tooth fixes come via skinny cow or ww desserts now. They are perfect! I only buy the 1, 2 or 3 point options. They are always yummy, just enough to satisfy me and I never feel guilty b/c they fit right into the plan so I can easily stay within my DP range and still have dessert. :)

Diana:: So is it the 3.5 month STS rotation that you will be doing?

All this STS talk....I can hardly wait until september....I better start doing my 1rm...how long did it take you guys?

BTW is rmrmrm=Diana????

Wendy: if you check in at work... only a couple of hours and then its noon and the day is almost halfway over:D When i am having a hard day thats how i get through it by breaking it up into baby steps!

Steph:: Yup, RMRMR is Diana!:) I break down my day by my "feeding times". LOL First feeding time usually falls between 9:30 and 10:00. Second is between 12 and 1:00. Third is between 2 and 3:00 and then if there is fourth-it's around 4pm. It helps in that it gives me something to look forward to. :p

Since i work in a school...I eat before school starts, I have my recess snack, lunch, after school snack and then family supper:p
I think working with teenagers keeps my immature-ish!

Steph:: We are probably on similar feeding schedules, you and I. I eat before I come into work (after my work out) as well...a piece of fruit. I save "breakfast" for a bit later in the morning b/c that's when I am usually hungrier for it.

Wendy...quick question?? have you tried p90x? if yes is there a Cathe in sts like the shoulder and arms one, or chest and back?

Lunch time:D
Shrimp, salad and a healthy pear....

Steph:: YES! I did P90X back in 2007 and got excellent results! I have still the work outs and have wanted to repeat the rotation numerous times. I'm just so bad at committing. That rotation has a chest and back disc, a shoulders and arms disc, a chest shoulders and triceps disc, legs and back disc and a back and biceps disc. Warning: chest and back in these work outs are mostly push ups and pull ups! Effective as all get out but OMG!!!!:eek::eek: Good job on lunch! :)

Yeah...but does Cathe have one like it in STS?? i am too lazy to read through the book right now..
I just finished chest and back followed by shoulders and arms...I love those ones the most and was hopîng Cathes sts has something similar...

Steph:: Ooooh, LOL sorry. I'm apparently dyslexic and read your question wrong.:p In STS M1 the work outs are Chest Shoulders & Biceps and Back and Triceps. In M2 the work outs are Chest Shoulders & Triceps and Back and Biceps. In M3 the work outs are Shoulders Biceps Triceps and Chest and Back. Looks like M3 would be the most akin to the X set up.

Merci!
I don't want to lose my non-exsistent pull-up power when i start sts:)

Still hoping to manage one before i die...still gives me at least 35+years based on normal life expectancy:)

LOL I hear ya! I was able to do a small handful of unassisted pull ups (from a bent arm position) because of P90X but lost that ability the minute I stopped doing pull ups on a regular basis. :( Not sure what M3 is like but M1 and M2 do not have nearly enough pull ups in them to enable me to get even close to being able to do one unassisted again. Guess that's even more of a reason to get my arse back to doing an X rotation sometime in the kinda sorta near post STS future....

Hello ladies. I did alot better with my eating today....turned down Snickers at work and peanut m&m's. It's a start!

Not sure who asked...but I havent tried orthotic in my shoes, not sure it would help or not. All I have to do is one jumping jack the wrong way and I get painful shooting pains in my knee. Did you get your orthotics thru a Physical Therapist??

With regard to STS and 1 rep max's.....I didnt do any and for me I dont think it wouldve mattered. STS Meso 1 is so similar to Cathe's regular weight training, I just used what I normally use, ie. 15 lbs for chest flies. When I moved on STS Meso 2, I just went up to 20's for chest flies or higher for other exercises where I felt I could go up another increment. So far I've only gotten thru half of Meso 2 and havent done Meso 3 yet.

Diet was pretty good today, the only carbs I had were 1/2 cup of rice and some water chestnuts!

Absolutly marvelous Stacy...I don't know if i would have been able to resist all that chocolate!

I was the one that was "cured" with the orthotics. I get mine through a physical therapist and they are custom made (approx 450 canadian) My employer pays for one set a year since it was a work accident. If your insurance covers it I would give it a try..are you seeing a PT? what is their assessment.

Just some info please...how much carbs are you allowed on Sheretas Dukan drop 7 in a week diet? I want to try and work it into my ww and "anything else that might work looped into one plan" plan:p

Hope i can tame the nightly munchies...fingers are crossed...DAY 5--no chocolate!

I only have occasional urges for sweets, for me the real damage is chips and salty things!

I did see a Phys Therapist before and thought it was a waste. He had me doing one-legged squats! Ouch! I'm sure there are better PT's out there, but I havent had time to explore all my options. I just switched insurance and don't know what's covered for sure yet.

As far as Dukan goes, I havent read the whole book yet, but in phase 1 called the Attack Phase, which lasts from 2-7 days generally based on how much weight you have to lose, you eat NOTHING but protein and some fat free dairy is allowed. After that phase, you start a phase where you alternate Protein only days and Protein/Veggie days. That's as far as I've gotten, don't know yet if certain veggies are not allowed, ie. potatoes.

The books requires at least a 20 minute walk every day as well as 1 1/2 quarts of water per day. There is talk about also having 1 1/2 Tbsp of oat bran daily but I'm not sure what phase that starts yet. I plan on reading a bit more this weekend. It doesnt involve calorie counting at least not from what Ive read yet. And there are a total of 4 phases.

For me I plan on staying within my WW points and making the majority of my diet proteins and veggies and overall increasing my water intake. I may fine tune more after I read more. I dont want to make things over complicated.

Hi Ladies,

Today was my first day following Michi's ladder tiers 1 and 2. I'm in a two challenge to follow this eating program. It wasn't hard at all. I'm guessing the weekends may be more challenging. My food is less structured on the weekend.

Here's more details on the Dukan Diet:
The Dukan Diet Plan Menu

One of my coworkers wants me to follow this program with her. It looks far too restrictive for me. I need more balance with fruits and veggies.

Steph-congrats, no chocolate for 5 days is awesome. Chocolate is my downfall too. This is day 1 for me, no sugar...which for me means no chocolate, and no alcohol.

Stacy-are you following the Dukan diet, or just reading the book? I need plenty of fiber and this plan doesn't have much. Good luck meshing the two programs. I really like the variety and healthy habits that WW provides.
