Wrist Tenderness

I am currently doing the P90X rotation in week 5. I have noticed in the last week that my wrists seem to have an awful strain on them and the part of my hand that extends from my thumb to my wrist seems sore when I put pressure on it (only during exercise and not during every day activities). I noticed it last week when I was doing Yoga and in a downward dog. My hands were really tender. Yesterday I was doing chest and I noticed that my wrists were very tender. P90X definitely has me doing more push ups than ever before (I'd say by at least 50+ reps per workout, if not more). Also, I had never done Yoga before and do it once per week now.

Is there anything that I can do to help this? Does this sound normal?

All info appreciated! :)

The push-ups and the yoga will definitely test your wrists. I think I had sore wrists for a while with this, then they seemed to get better. Almost like a question of endurance.

You could use dumbbells as hand grips when doing push-ups.

And make sure your fingers are splayed out and not together, to help distribute the weight.

I also forgot to mention that I recently have really been pushing hard to get up on my toes for push ups. I find this harder with the push up handlebars but I may have to just start using them a lot to help my poor wrists!

Thanks for the suggestion Kathryn...I thought it might be a question of endurance, since I am using them differently. I just hope it gets a little better.
