Would like to start the habit of working out in the a.m..

I have tried in the past with little success..I was not feeling well at all after my workouts. I think it may be due to the fact that I started exercising right after I woke with an empty stomach. I am up at 6:00 when I don't have to leave for work until 8:00. No, it doesn't take me 2 hours to get ready..it is just habit from DH and his early musters:) My question is..what would be a good thing for me to eat before an am workout and how long before I start should I eat?

I've been working out on an empty stomach in the mornings, and although I never thought I could do it, I can. I don't have much energy, but I don't think that's from lack of food. It's just getting used to this new routine for me. I know it's been discussed on here many times whether or not to eat before a workout.

I prefer to work out in am, cuz it is a lot easier to find excuses to put off my workout till later. I have found drinking an 8 oz glass of gatorade, powerade, eliminates nausea and upset stomach and gives you a little energy boost...8oz is only about 50-60 calories. I do feel overall stronger and more energetic when I do work out at 4-5:00pm though...but i feel I have to force myself to get going. Try the sport drink trick, it helped me alot..good luck
 
No matter what I tried..after an am workout I just felt awful throughout the rest of the day. One good thing about your husband being gone..my evenings are completely free. I get home from work at 6..workout at 7 and feel great. It's strange that I can't get through an am workout because I am an early wake up person..my body just does not agree with it}(
 
I'm right there with you!! I have tried and tried and tried many times over the years to workout in the a.m., but I just can't do it with any success. Yes, I feel wonderful later knowing what I accomplished in the a.m., but I don't have as much energy. I'm naturally an early bird at waking up, but I don't function for a few hours after I am up. I'm like that at work too. I wish I were a morning exerciser because alot of times in the evenings I do have things going on, and I don't even get home from work til 6:00-6:30....then all the events take place!!
