Would a bulk discount make you buy more?

I posted this suggestion on the "Suggestions for Next DVds" board, but I wanted to get feedback from others about this. I'd love to complete my Cathe DVD library but I'm waiting for a meaningful bulk discount. I say "meaningful" because the bulk discounts currently available offer no flexibility: Even if you already have some of the DVDs you have to order the whole thing to get the discount. I don't want duplicates! Even if I can sell them on Ebay, what a hassle. Why can't SNM institute a discount policy for DVDs similar to the old one for videos? I wouldn't expect it to be so generous, since DVDs cost more, but something along those lines (buy 1, get money off a second, buy 2, save even more). I would definitely buy more DVDs if there was such a policy.

Do others feel this way too? If so, we should tell SNM. IF they thought they could sell more DVDs with such a discount, I bet they'd do it.

I think that SNM is very generous w/their current discount. The last time I looked, they seemed to be more for someone that didn't alredy have most of Cathe's library. Perhaps they don't offer something like you are mentioning b/c it is too much to keep track of/more programming for their computer systems/etc.? I can't lie and say that a discount would not be motivating and help me buy up some of the DVDs that I now have on VHS, but I don't think that I'd vote to write and ask them for one either. Personally I think the discounts that Cathe is gracious enough to give are enough for me :)

I certainly don't think they "owe" us a discount or anything! It's not a complaint about them not being generous or nice to us or anything like that. But purely from a business perspective, I bet they'd offer it if they thought it would improve sales. So if it WOULD be something that would encourage us to buy, they should hear it so they can factor that into their decision.

I would love to see a more flexible bulk discount. Some of the bulk discounts offered don't save much at all (eg. the 12 workout bundle saves $10, and I have some of the dvds already), others are pretty good (eg. the whole Intensity series) but I, again, have too many of the dvds to make it worth it. While I don't think a discount is 'owed' customers either, I'd more quickly complete my set if one was offered. At the same time, I'd love for SNM to keep up the high quality of the dvd options (including a return to music loudness options, continued detailed chapters, and premixes, etc), so if discounting prices comes with reducing dvd quality, I wouldn't want to see that happen.

I agree. Since there's no decent discount offered at SNM, I have purchased much of my Cathe library on eBay. Of course you have to be patient buying there, but you often get better deals. I'd much rather buy from SNM for the guarantee, but money is money.
