Workouts Minutes Per Week - Please respond

I am looking to find out how many minutes you ladies and gentlemen spend a week working out - this includes lifting, cardio, warm ups, cooldowns, stretches, ab work, etc.

Example, if you workout for an hour a day, six days a week - you'd clock in at 360 minutes per week. I understand that for most, some weeks it's more & some weeks it's less - I'm merely looking for 'ballpark' estimates here. Thanks!

Hi Jillybean!

It is nice to see you posting again. to answer your question, I average about 70" per day 6 days per week. That clocks in at 420" per week. My goal is to get in enough work to satisfy my curernt goals and prevent over training. There are days where I will do as much as 90-100" but I may also have a day where I will do 45".

My most neglected area is stretching; It is my goal to include more of it on a weekly basis.

BTW I took your suggestion from another thread and did Timesaver GS CT with heavier weights and core max yesterday. Thanks for the idea. I am sufficiently sore in my triceps and mildly sore in my chest. PS I did do extra sets of pushups, since the TS version omits every other set.

Let me add here that If you want legs and cardio on the same day consider GS standing legs and Imax3. I did this intending to do only intervals 1-5 , but I felt good and did all 10 intervals. Today I will do GS floor legs and Low Max.

Happy sweating !

Well I would say about 540 minutes a week at the least.... Rhonda

I know there are times when I have to miss a workout, but its not that often, this is estimated....

Hi,

I workout at least 900 miutes per week. I do step 1 hour per day, i lift weights 3 hours per week, and I hop on the stairmaster at least 30 minutes per day, and i do abs and stretching on top of the 900 minutes per week.

I would say 360! At least six days a week for one hour. I am going to be stepping it up a notch to get ready for a run, but that starts next month! We all rock!

Wow, this post made me realize that I have really increasaed my workout time. I used to be a 300 minutes per week (60 minutes/5 days per week) person and currently, I am a 405 minute a week (60 minutes 3 days and 75 three days) person (averages). I am doing P90X rotation right now and that is the difference. Some weeks I add in a bit extra (ie this week I added 20 minutes of leg drills) and others I may cut a workout.

It might be interesting to have people add their goals in their reponses here to see how long people are spending to achieve what goal. For example I am currently doing about 400 minutes per week and my goal is to increase strenght and endurance (no weight loss goal).

Approximately 900:

Run/walk on treadmill 90 minutes per day (60 min. in morning - 30 minutes in evening).(6X a week)

Step Reebok (the original) - 37 minutes (6X a week)

Various Cathe Strength videos (45-60 minutes)- (5X a week)

Pilates (45 minutes) - (2X a week)

I average about 900 minutes per week. Sometimes more, sometimes less (but not much less unless I'm sick).

1.5 hours in the morning (cardio and/or endurance-based weight training + some abs and stretching)

1 hour at lunchtime (heavy weight training at the gym)

6 days per week

It works for me!

wow...900, that is impressive. I'm right along with Wendy, I do 45 to 90 6 days a week so I would say 360 is the average for me.

I'm very slowly preparing my body to rise earlier in the morning. So far I've been getting up 1/2 hour early for the last week (no snooze button!!). Next week I'll bump it up to 45 minutes early so my body adjusts. I'm also getting to bed earlier each night, or trying to.

Anyway my point is here somewhere...I'm trying to adjust to a.m. workouts. That way I will be able to do an hour before work and then I'll easily fit in about 30 minutes after work or at lunch. My favorite time of day to work out is right after work...I love to run then.

I only do about 300 minutes per week on average. I feel very inferior to these other women here. But it's better than none!

I'm in at just over 900 as well. Roughly 45 minutes - 1 hour of resistance, 45 minutes of cardio (running or elliptical)and abs or stretching - 7 days a week. About two days a week I'll add a second cardio in the evening (like step blast or low max).

I workout about 480 minutes a week. Probably less, if I do one workout "as is". Most of the time I tack on an extra something after a weight workout. I really lack in cardio and don't do ANY stretching right now. Gotta change that.

I average about 70 minutes/day 6 days/week for a total of 420 minutes. Next week I will be adding another 60 minutes 3 times a week to that.

Tammy

I work out about 70 min, 6x/wk (420 min total). I'm also trying to find that balance between being as fit as I can be without over-training.

I really love yoga and see a lot of improvement in my core strength when I incorporate Pilates into my rotations. It's just so hard to fit it all in without spending half your life exercising!

Anywhere from 60/120 min every day -- that brings me to the average of 630 min ballpark or so. Mari
