WORKOUT Sunday 07/25

Cathlete
Hello everyone,

It's pretend race day for me.

It rains, it's only 16C (59F) and it doesn't make me feel like I wanna run. Or is that pre-race jitters?

I'll be running 1K warm up then 6-8-10-12-10-8-6 minutes and repeat with 1 minute walk breaks

Anyway start my run at 13PM: 1K in 06:06. Can't believe my eyes. That's way too fast. Slow down. HR is 165. 2K in 12:18 - what, I haven't slowed? 3K in 18:21 - oh my, I even went faster. What is going on? 4K in 24:something. This can't be true. Slow down, you're not gonna make it if you keep this up! What happened to the turtle in me? 5K in 32:13 I'm going way too fast. Do turtles hibernate? Wake up!! 6K in 39:18, I've never been so fast. And it still feels good, but I have to go slower. To many K's to go yet. 7K in 44:something. That's even faster than my 7K-race in May. 9K in exactly 60 minutes. Oh help, go slow, please. 10 K in 1:06:49. No,no,no, go s-l-o-w. 11K - I'm finallly slowing down. I'm starting to feel my legs. See that's what happens if you go too fast. 12K - my knees start to bother me. You shouldn't have gone so fast, now see what happens. 13K - almost there, I'm finally at HR155. Good on me. 15K, only a little over 1K left. Time to speed up, can I do it? Ofcourse I can. 500 meters, come on, you can go faster, yes yes.... 300 meters, you can see the finish, run for it...200 meters, don't slow down, keep going, 100 meters, go go go go.... YEAH 1:46:06 YEAH for me. Have a well deserved walk break. But you're not back at your starting point yet so move your legs girl, another 600 meters to go. Yes there are the lantern posts, time to accellerate again. Every second lantern. No I'm tired, Don't be a sissy, RUN. I finally finished in 1:50:15 running 16.8K. SMILE...:) :)

My legs are tired, but I'm not. I feel exhillerated (sp?)

Phew 8 more weeks to strenthen my legs with P90X and Imax2 and weekly speedwork like a tempo run and hill work. Maybe I can go sub 1:45???

Carole/Annette, how's the weather where you are?

Dutchie :) :)

Hi Dutchie.....absolutely great description of your run...:)...see, as you run more you do get faster and Imax2 and P90X are helping...I do know the exhilerated feeling when you do a new farther distance. You did awesome!!! As for the weather...102 for the high. I did an 11 mile run here with a friend, its a bit muggy and my stomach was acting up so I cut it a bit short. I wanted to go 13 miles. I will either do the StretchX or a Bryan Kest Yoga workout now...have a great day girls...:)...Carole

Day off, but our TV (old one broke in exercise room) is coming this afternoon, so i can resume Cathe tomorrow. I had DH out to Circuit City today (Sunday) in desparation because I didn't want to go through Cathe withdrawal this week. I couldn't believe they could deliver today!!! Glen, the salesman is my new best friend!:+

So is DH for getting a new one pronto! :*

Carole, 13 miles??? That's practically a 1/2 marathon... Are you training again for your next marathon?

I've been actually asked if I would sign up for the Amsterdam Marathon, running a 1/2 marathon on 17 October. I know 10 miles or a 1/2 marathon is only a 5K difference, but it has a 3 hour time limit. I'm not sure, I'd only have 4 weeks to prepare. I don't want to take on too much. Don't want to overtrain my body and am certainly weary because of my knee. On the other hand, my training schedule leads my right up to 18K before I run the Dam-to_Dam in September. Adding on an extra 3K after race day should be doable? Maybe a 1/2 would be better in Spring? There would be one right here in my hometown early May.

Dutchie:)

Hi Dutchie...yes I am slowly increasing my weekly mileage as I will start training towards the end of Aug for a marathon in Dec. I have really missed running distance due to my Achilles Tendonitis! So on that note I would say not to push it to you...:)...maybe spring would be a good time for a half for you...you can always see how your body responds to more mileage first, especially with your knee....:)...Carole

Isn't that funny how we get so used to our conveniences then we experience withdrawals? :7 We have 4 DVD players in the house, one trying to quit, one with our TV in our 5th wheel and one in my laptop. I still have anxiety when one quits. I couldn't do without the TV. No, I would be a miserable person to live with. Good for you getting one right away.
