Workout log for week of November 10th

Cathlete
Hi to all my rounded belly friends. I hope everyone had a great week. DH just finished a big job, so he's going to be around a lot more for preparing the baby's room. I'm pretty excited about that. I want my little guy to have a room by X-Mas.

Baby is moving around lots and lots. He's getting so much stronger. I can feel bones bumping into me pretty much all day (I can't deceipher which bone it is through). He doesn't move around much when I exercise or sleep. Perhaps he'll continue this ritual after he is born?!

Haven't had any braxton hicks contractions as I had with my 1st pregnancy. It's a little strange b/c I kind of expected them. I know not everyone gets them...but I'm lot more active now that I was with 1st pregnancy (I was just a student then).

Tuesday I have my 31 week check up & my blood drawn for the platelet study. The lab work takes about 2 weeks to get the results back. I'll keep you posted.

I'm definitely getting bigger, rounder, and gaining more weight. I think I gained 2 pounds last week alone. Hopefully it was a growing spurt for the baby...

Sun: off
Mon: off
Tue: Step Jam + stability ball abs
Wed: IMax2 (except #9) + stability ball abs
Thurs: PS BBA (no abs)
Fri: off
Sat: C&W

*I was really hoping to squeeze a workout in on Friday, but DH & I went into town shopping & it ended up taking the entire afternoon. When you live in the boonies it takes FOREVER to go shopping 'into town'.

I thought I would join this thread because I finally can workout consistently now that I am in my 2nd trimester. I had a great week. I am currently doing the November rotation now that i have a lot more energy than I did 3 weeks ago. This is my second pregnancy and I don't remember being so tired. But I guess having the little one makes all the pregnancy side affects go away!

Here's my workout:
M-Imax 2 even intervals/alternating w/weight work
T-The Viper
W-Off
TH-Treadmill walking w/incline and one exercise per muscle using
Pour Hour
F-Super Cardio (hadn't done a Firm in ages!)
SA-Circuit Max
SU-Off

Five days isn't too shabby. I have been modifying some the jumps and definately the plyos. I am really enjoying the November Circuit rotation.

Melanie-you are soooo close. I'm not rushing things, but I will be glad when I get to that point in my pregnancy. I'm ready to see my new family addition. If not being too personal, how much weight have you gained since your pregancy? I have gained 12 lbs and I'm only 16 weeks. The strange thing is that I have been showing for the last month and a half, and I can still fit into my clothes, I just can't button them around my waist. Unlike my last pregnancy I didn't get too sick; no throwing up, etc. So I have been able to keep all the bad stuff I've been eating down!

Have a wonderful workout week!

I"ve gained about 23 pounds so far. Not too bad, as long as I don't gain 2lbs/week until birth!!

Hi Trina, glad your posting...how fun to be doing a real rotation. Glad your feeling better. I've settled on "what I feel like doing" is what I'm doing for the week!!! :7 :7 :7 .

Melanie.....I have 4 weeks and 3 days left...have I finally learned how to count in pregnancy time??? And I want to ask...how was your day spent shopping? We live in the boonies too and went to Lacrosse shopping yesterday. Here's how it went. We left....in 15 minutes "honey, can I stop at a gas station to go to the restroom", "can I stop at the next rest stop", "I'll be back in a minute, I've got to use the Target restroom", "Luke (my 8 year old) do you have to go to the bathroom, mommy will take you", "anybody need a potty break at the farm n fleet bathroom", and "oh good, we need to fill up with gas....I've got to use the restroom". I know where every bathroom in every store in Lacrosse is located and which ones I prefer!!!! I think drinking tea on the way there contributed!!

Mon - Rest
Tues - PS CST
Wed - PLB and lots of stretching
Thurs - Tae bo and PS BBA yes I did the abs, but took little breaks, when I stood up I had some major muscle spasms so I may go lighter on these next time.
Fri - Tae bo and heavy shoulder work
Sat - C&W, minus the shoulder weight work. Some of the lunges I skipped, the cardio was kind of fun (for me the cardio hater!!).
Sun- rest.

Hope you all have a great prego week!!

Briee

Briee, too funny about the pottie breaks! I had to take one, probably could have had more. Our trips into 'town' are always rushed... especially when DH comes with. I had 5 stops on our list & we only made it to one place. It was a real bummer. We have to go into town on Tues for ob appt so we'll have to catch up then!

I think it's great that you did the abs in BBA. I think I felt a sharp pain in my abs when I did that portion about a month ago. It felt like a torn ligament, but it went away quickly. I only skipped it b/c I was running out of time & I worked my abs 3 times last week & felt I earned a break. ;) C&W was fun for me too. I was sore the next day though.

Hello Everyone-
I have been reading the posts on this board for over 5 months and finally took the time to register for it. I am pregnant with my first child and due December 19! I am truly amazed at the workouts that everyone is doing so late into their pregnancy and would love some feedback on how abs are being done (Briee) especially since our due dates are so close together. I have been working out 5-6 days a week for the past 10 years and have continued that into my pregnancy but I had to give Abs up about 4 months ago b/c I heard so many stories on Diastysis (spelling?) I have gained 17 pounds so far and will probably end up somewhere around 21-22 for the total pregnancy. But I don't ever see my flat stomach coming back!! Help!!!!!!

Yes you do see your abs coming back.......just check out Cathe's pictures on her home page of her pregnancy. Her belly was huge (thank you Cathe for posting that wonderful picture to encourage us all) and then view it 7 months later...the intensity series. And this was baby number two. Yours will be the same!!!!!

I continue to do ab work as in Cathe's older stuff...PS BBA for example. Sometimes I get those sharp pains and lay off and other times it's not a problem. Obviously now I can't quite get up as far with my tummy in the way. I did PUB this morning, but I can't continue this ab section anymore, I did try....but when I went to throw the beach ball over my head I kept getting really strong braxton hicks and then those sharp pains that Melanie spoke of and I must admit....this just isn't the time for that anymore. I'll have to stick to crunches. Boy will I miss those pikes (that is tongue in cheek) :p :p :p . As for the Diastasis (I can't remember how to spell that either). I was thinking that it is something that occurs as your belly gets bigger from pregnancy and your abs separate (this does not always happen) and then you have the baby and a "ridge" or separation is left and you have you do special exercises to over come this (actually you do the sit ups in a special way to encourage it to grow together) I could be all off and would love for Sheila to respond here - I'm sure she has the answers. I just love my sit ups and can't live without them, although I haven't been concentrating much on them lately, most weights and some cardio. Don't know if this helps.

Thanks for checking in!!! We are two days apart, that is so exciting!! I want to hear details as to your progress so we can compare. Marci is also due December 15th, but I can't compare my situation to hers...she is already showing signs of imminent birth and has a history of going early (isn't she lucky!!!!). I do not have a history of going early, I'm usually pretty close to the due date or a little over. And I still feel too fine to be ready!!! How are you feeling???? I'd love to know.

Briee

Hi girls! This week was interesting. My son had croup last week and it evolved into a sinus infection. The poor kid has been sick for two weeks!! The only good thing to come of all this - he slept alot! I couldn't believe that I still got all of my workouts in for the week.
I can't believe how awesome all of you girls are doing!!!!! :D Keep up the incredible work!!
Here was my week:
Sun: C& W cardio
Mon: Firm BSS Body Sculpt (didn't even felt like I worked out-that one is off my list)
Tues: Viper-cardio only
Wed: PH
Th: CTX-Step&Int. cardio
Fri: Firm-Vol.4
Sat: MIC-warm-up, step portion, cool down & stretch

Have a great week girls!!

hdh-- I cannot believe you've gained only 17 pounds so far. That's awesome! It sounds like you were able to keep up with your exercises & I'm sure that helped. Even though I'm 6 weeks behind you & have gained 6 pounds more than you my belly feels extremely firm and I"m hoping it's mostly baby. Time will tell.
Thanks for posting. It's exciting to hear from different people!!! Keep it coming!

Hi Melanie-

The exercising has definitely helped! I found myself really forcing myself to keep up with it over these past few weeks. I have greatly modified my Cathe videos. I love to do IMAX 2 and then I just work on a body part with weights during the high intensity portions and then I rejoin during routines. I had read some postings where people were doing boot camp in their 7-8-9th months!!!! I bow to them. I buried that video along with my prematernity clothes. I can't wait to pull it out again! I actually bought the FIRM Body Sculpting system 2 at Target with the 3 new videos/sculpting stick and I have found them to be wonderful for these last few weeks. My heart rate stays 140-155 BPM and I burn about 275 calories in the 50 minute routines. (Therefore I indulge in a little bit of Ice Cream)

I would like to think that the weight gain is all baby, but someone is playing a cruel joke with the whole cellulite thing...

hdh-- I can't imagine that you've acquired much cellulite with only 17 pound increase. I"m certain you are being hard on yourself. I like to think that most of my weight gain is in my breasts. ;) But I know better. I can feel my weight re-distributing as my body prepares for having a baby. I"m not complaining, it's all natural. I am getting uncomfortably round though. It's difficult to bend over & pick things up and sleeping positions are becoming more of a challenge.
I did do Boot Camp last month. It didn't seem too bad, but I was sore afterwards. I haven't done it since. I did do a FIRM video yesterday...and it was tough aerobically, especially the tall box cardio moves. At this point, walking up and down my stairs at home is a cardio workout!

Good morning everyone, baby Dylan is now 8 weeks old! I can't believe it goes so fast! His is sleeping from about 8pm to somewhere between 3 and 5 in the morning. This works OK for me since I am a morning person anyway. If I can get to bed by 9, I don't mind getting up so early. Then I am up for the day. I am very depressed on the weight loss. So far I have not lost any of the 24lbs I need to get back to pre preggo weight. I am doing the Firm DVDs 5 or 6 times a week and they seem to be pretty good. I did Cathe Rythemic Step yesterday. It seemed harder so I am going to start doing more Cathe again. I can't wait for the new DVDs to get here. My eating has been good. I'm doing high protein and lots of green veges. Sort of following the South Beach diet. I feel like I have lost inches but that damn scale just won't budge! I finally had to buy a couple of pair of pants (2 sizes bigger) just so I would have something to wear other than sweats. Very depressing. I really thought that the first 10 lbs would come off relatively easy - that was how it was with my first two kids. Maybe its just because I'm older that its harder now. I swear that I have the metabolism of a slug! Wow, I guess I really needed to vent on the weight loss subject. On the positive side Dylan is such a love and everytime a coax a smile out of him I cry. He is definately worth all of my current frustration.

Hey Debbie. If you don't mind sharing, how much did you gain during pregnancy & how much have you lost since labor? 8 weeks seems too short to have lost a significant amount of weight. With my last child it took 3 months until I was able to wear my jeans again. I was so excited I jumped up in the air and screamed. Of course, I was only 21 then (but I didn't exercise). Also curious if you are breastfeeding at all?
I'm sorry if I'm being nosey. Right now I'm focusing on keeping my pregnancy weight down (if I can)...so we're not really on the same page yet. There's a postpartum workout log where peoples have posted to. You might really like that link. Of course you're always welcome here too. ;) Have a great day!
