Working out on thick carpet?

Hi everyone!

I know this sounds silly, but I just moved into a new apartment and will now have a separate workout room!! Yipeee! My question is....is it better to do aerobics and weight training on a hard floor or carpet?? The carpet that is down there is sort of thick with a pad under it. So I didn't know if that makes it harder to move your feet and if it would be more chance for injury?

Thanks!

Hi Sarah,
congrats on your new workout room-- I w/o on carpet and havent had any problems thus far. If Im doing something like Cardio Kicks, or Circuit Max, I use the tape around the bottom of my shoes (just the ball of my foot) to ease the movements, and it has worked really well for me. So far no injuries or problems.

Have a great day

Sarah, congrats on the room! Just be careful with pivots and direction changes on that carpet until you get used to it. Your tennies' tread will respond differently on carpet than on hard surfaces so you have to be aware of it until you get used to it. I have found some carpets are actually more slippery, while others tend to "grab" my shoes. (PS It's good you have that pad underneath) Have fun!
