Working out and my family quandry

What would you do? My extended family drives me crazy - I've lamented on these boards before.

I usually get up at about 4:30 to workout. Tomorrow I have to drive 3 1/2 to 4 hours for my grandmother's funeral, leaving no later than 6:00 a.m. The funeral is at 10:00 and after all the family things and comforting I'll return home tomorrow night. (She's been very ill for some time so most of this large family was expecting this)

It's one of those things I'm dreading, not just the funeral part, but the day with the extended family (am I terrible ;( ?) So now the question. I'm on for IMAX 2 and core max #3 tomorrow. Would you get up at 3:30 to work out? Or just forget it and call it a lost day?

First I want to say sorry for your loss.
I would still work out. I have had a big day planned and still worked out and for some reason, it made me feel like I had more energy in the day. It might even make "the family" seem more bearable.:)

I to am sorry to hear about your loss, but I think I would use tomorrow as a rest day. I think the drive alone is considered physical ;-) Take care and have a safe trip!! Good luck with the family!!

Hi Lorrie.

Sorry to hear about your loss as well ((HUGS)). If it was me, I would skip my workout just because I know I am not a good morning driver (I get very sleepy driving), and if I got up at 3:30 to workout, I would be even more sleepy. If you drive fine in the morning and you think the workout will help your stress level and would wake you up for the drive, then go for it.
Have a safe trip.

I too want to say I am sorry for your loss.
Sounds like the work out might be a good thing for you - maybe you just need to readjust your goals for tomorrow and not do such a long workout. Getting something in would probably be better than none at all.

Hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

As much as I hate missing workouts, I would get the extra rest and not exercise. It sounds like you're going to have a long day and it will be easier on you if you're rested.

Ugh! Extended family stresses me out too. Could you get up at 4:00 and have a short, intense half hour workout? Maybe the IMAX 2 blasts and a shorter core workout? It would help me deal with the stress of family to get some exercise.

But then again, if you have a long drive you need to stay awake and safe, so the other ladies probably have the right idea.

take care
Maggie:)

Weird, Lorrie. Actually my sister from California came in this past Thursday because her grandmother died. Her GM would be my step-GM. While I love my SDad to no end, some of us were never close to that side of the family (not that we never got along). So while I understood your post, I guess there must be something left out there for confusion.

Needless to say I have not worked out in 6 days. In my opinion, let it go (your workout , that is). Catch up as soon as you can, then get back into routine. You'll catch up soon enough.I think the second go-round is not too tough.

Thanks all. Reluctantly took your advice and opted for the extra sleep. I'm off - late already. Have an awesome day ladies!
