Has anyone had success losing weight by working out for an hour 5 days a week? If so, how did you split your workouts up? Did you do cardio 3x and weights 2x per week or vice versa? Or did you do cardio and a body part a day?
I really don't think you need to exercise for more than an hour a day to lose weight. I have exercised 4 days per week and lost weight. It's what you put into it. I usually do intense cardio 4 to 5 x's per week with weights as an add on. I rarely exercise for more than 1hr. 15 min. I love circuit type workouts as well. I rarely do a full strength workout. The cardio with weights fatigues me more than an 1hr. of straight weight work. You also need to eat sensibly!
I work and have 2 busy middleschoolers and it is hard to find the time to work out. Usually I get up at 5:30 to get my hour in. If I do weights only in the morning, then I hit my workplace gym at lunchtime. Can't do too much of that though, because I think it results in overtraining. Eat cleanly as much as you can, keep rotating your routines to avoid plateaus, drink a lot of water and get your rest - the weight will come off.
Remember everything in moderation, but give yourself days off too. Makes it easier to stick to your plan.
My goal has always been 5 days a week, 45 minutes to an hour, 2 days weights and 3 days cardio one week, then reversed the next week. In reality, I probably get in an average of 4 days a week, with cardio and weights split. I did lose weight like that. I lost 60 pounds, and six dress sizes, doing the above combined with Weight Watchers. I really believe though that it's a very individual thing, and you have to find the formula that works best for you, your body type, and which fits your lifestyle. Best of luck to you!!
