Work out using the basic equipment

Hello,

I would like to see more weights and cardio workouts that does not use any new equipment apart from the basics i.e. a set of dumbbells and barbells and step. I think if Cathe just offers workouts using new equipments all the time then it would NOT be cost effective for us home exercisers to keep on using her videos. I, for one, have only just managed to acquire a proper set of dumbbells after nearly a year of using Cathe. I was relying on two barbells and weight plates and some sets of dumbbells. I would prefer to make the most of what I have rather than spend spend spend on new equipment: I might as well join a gym otherwise.

I would prefer not to spend on new equipment due to financial reasons but also because I believe exercise should be affordable and available for everyone. At this rate, Cathe is pricing herself out of ordinary's reach.

I also prefer the older style workouts like Pure Strength, MIS, BodyMax and Power Hour because they give you a chance to change weights on the barbell. Muscle Endurance and Pyramids goes too fast and I find I miss some of the reps (I am particular about following Cathe as I feel I am not getting the full work out otherwise). If Cathe can do it before, she can do it again.

Thanks.

Hi Yen, please do not take this the wrong way, but you don't have to get new equipment if you don't want to. I have been exercising for 10 years. In four months of doing Cathe's workouts, all I had to get were a pair of 15-lb. dumbbells, a pair of 20-lb. dumbbells and a barbell set. Eventually I decided to get a stability ball because I really wanted to do her ab workout with the pikes.

The equipment I've added to my collection have all been reasonably priced. I got them all from mass market retailers and because I didn't buy all of them all at once, the cost didn't burn a hole in my wallet. I know many ladies on this board buy themselves equipment on the higher end of the line, but that is their personal choice. It's something they want to do for themselves.

Cathe shows modifications if you don't have a stability ball or medicine ball. And the workouts where she doesn't show modifications are pretty easy to change if you've been exercising a while and are familiar with other exercises. I modify a lot of her step workouts, especially those moves that are harsh to my knees. And those workouts that go too fast... well, I repeatedly use the pause button on my remote control.

If Cathe did the same workout on every video or DVD, there'd be no point buying her workouts. And how can you make a good rotation if you use different videos that give you the same old thing? Just my 2 cents.
