Will someone please explain PayPal to me

You pay for things online with paypal. You set up an account with them and they charge your account, not the vendor. Ebay, for example has TONS of vendors. You pay them through pay pal and they never get your credit card info. It's supposed to be a bit safer and convenient.

I used Pay Pal while selling on Ebay.

Just wanted to let you know too that you have to hook up your Pay Pal account with either a credit card of a checking account # though because there ARE fees associated with using Pay Pal. I am only telling you this b/c it can make people nervous.

You can retrieve your money from Pay Pal in a # of ways if I remember correctly. I had them transfer it directly into my checking account but I think they can cut and mail a check as well.

***Beware of Pay Pal phishing schemes.***
They are VERY common. I used to get the emails often. As long as you don't do what the emails ask, you will be fine.

I would recommend using your credit card with paypal since it will offer you more protection if someone steals your password and gets into your account. Luckily this hasn't happened to me or anyone I know, but it is a risk with any online account. Like the previous post warns, do BEWARE of phishing emails. NEVER respond to an email from "paypal". Always go directly to your account to check out a situation and never through an email link.

I have never had a problem with paypal even though I'm sure you can google it and find complaints. You only incur fees using this service if you sell on ebay. There are no paypal fees if you only buy.

Hope this helps.
