Hi guys,

I have just done Muscle Endurance for the first time. I didn't bother previewing it, just stuck the tape in and went for it!. I have never done a leg press before and found doing them without any weight hard enough, but three (!) lots of them? My legs are fried and I was drenched with sweat! I'm pretty sure I worked harder at this than I did in the gym - the intensity of how hard you can push yourself in a home workout setting is amazing me!

I am going to try Pyramid Upper Body later in the week - what is the heaviest weight I would need? I know it's an individual thing but I was lifting 25lb weights for upper body at the gym on occasions - should I buy a pair of 25lb dumb bells as well?

I also have bought Power Hour - how does it compare with ME?

Thanks,
LizN

Hi Liz :)

You picked a great workout...I LOVE Muscle Endurance...those 3 sets of leg presses get me every time too, lol...for Pyramid Upper Body, I use dumbells ranging from 3 to 15 pounds...I've been doing this one a long time (though haven't done it in a while!) and still only use 8, 10, and 12 for the biceps ...Cathe and crew use 10, 12, and 15. It's a deceptively tough workout...especially when you get to the stability ball work at the end for the core!

I've got Power Hour as well and used to do it quite a bit (gonna have to pull that one out again!)...I would say, as memory serves, that ME is just a tad more intense...but others may have a different opinion...in any case, enjoy! :)

Muscle Endurance would be my very favourite total body strength workout - if it wasn't for all those leg presses LOL! For me, they are the "dread factor" in that workout. I talk myself into doing the workout by telling myself that ME has no plie squats, which are the other leg exercises that give me dread. ME is very similar to Power Hour in style and intensity, IMO, except the ab/core work is easier, and instead of leg presses you do plie squats and two sets of static lunges; one set with a barbell and one set with dumbells. I consider these two workouts interchangeable in a rotation.

With PUB, the heaviest dumbell weight Cathe uses is 20lbs, and if I recall correctly, you only need one of them.

Enjoy your new workouts! They're all exceptional.

Thanks for your replies - I can feel DOMS starting to settle in nicely...I was genuinely shocked when the third set of leg presses came up - I thought "is she for real?!". Luckily I hadn't previewed the workout, eh?

Bye for now,
