Will I be able to do Drill Max if Body Max is a struggle?

I got Body Max and LIC, but not Drill Max because I was afraid it would be too much on the level of Imax 3 (in terms of jumping intensity).

Now I have done Body Max and can do the whole thing on a 6-inch step, after first section on 8in. Cardio Fusion I also got thru with modifications and on 6ins. I really want to get Drill Max now because I love having new workouts and love that they the routines are so fresh.

My question is: if I can just about get through Body Max, will Drill Max be too painful? Is it like Imax3 with lots of high impact jumping and end up on the "some day" shelf? I can do plyos and even a few plyo jacks, turning squats, jumps on and off the step etc., but only for brief periods. I hate to have to modify everything in a given workout.

And also, are Body Max and Drill Max all that different?

I appreciate your advice.

RE: Will I be able to do Drill Max if Body Max is a str...

Hi Linda,
Drill Max and Body Max 2 are completely different workouts. The thing I find most difficult in DM is the sequencing of some of the moves, making them really difficult for me in THIS workout...core push ups followed by dive bomber push ups (yet you only do 4 of each three times instead of one giant set of 16 or 24), push ups and tricep dips off the stability ball (easity modified to regular push ups on the floor or tricep dips off the step, high step, or a chair). I use the ball, but find this very difficult as I'm sweating buckets so my hands slip. Also, you can do these with the ball up against a wall for support until you are stable enough to do them on your own. I also take the ball out of the wall squats and put my back right up against the wall right now...this was way more effective for me as I could do the whole exercise this way and really feel the burn until I get used to the ball between the wall and my back.

Cardio: BM2 is all step, where in DM each cardio is quite differetent. In DM you use the floor, step, and stability ball and there are quite a few jumps on and off or over the step, but I find most of the cardio doable compared to Imax 3. Cycle 5 cardio and the last portion of cycle 6 cardio are the toughest to me and really get my heart rate up there. I do think you could modify/replace with low impact moves of choice should the cardio be too difficult for you. Have you watched the clip? That would give you a good idea also. Also, see how you do after doing BM2 again. You will be surprised at how much your stanima/endurance will improve with each session.

Another idea would be to try Cathe's beginner to intermediate workouts:

Good luck!

RE: Will I be able to do Drill Max if Body Max is a str...

Thanks Angela for the info, which is really helpful. I have little doubt that I'll end up buying drill max at some point anyway, but based on what you have said, I may hold off until I get bored with my current selection (which is Cathe extensive). I have cardio fusion so I have done some of the cardio from DM and found it doable. Its all the push ups that I'm not so sure about.

I forgot to ask about the fun factor. Many have said BM2 is really fun (and I agree); how "fun" is DM?

BTW I have watched the clips, but I couldn't really tell how different it was from BM by the clips.

Thanks,

Linda

Drill Max is MAX fun. Music is great, cardio is fun, Cathe and crew are awesome. Go for it! If you can do BMax2, you're ready...

Pushups...modify them! Cathe won't bite you thru the dvd player screen! LOL!:)

Angela,
You pegged the exact things that seem nearly insurmountable to me in DM. I think I could pull off some of the bomb diver/cores if I hadn't already done 16 on the toes push ups in the warm up so I will work on modifying the warm up ones to be easier and try to do some of the bombdiver/cores during the work out and modify some of those w/ on the toes or knees after the first set.
Thanks for the ideas to modify some of the ball work by putting ball against a wall for stability, too.

Linda,
I think you would find BM fun if you don't mind modifying some of the stuff. It gives you a goal to work toward, that is how I am going to look at it for now.

Oh, I agree...DM it total fun. It is very different from Body Max in that the moves are a bit more functional...no heavy weight here at all. Nice premixes also, but that's a given with Cathe workouts now. The more I do it, the more I like it! Keep up the great work! Remember you can always do push ups on the knees and leave out the dive bomber push ups.

Your welcome Jody!

I'm checking the forums while I await my family to arrive for my dad's birthday party!

Hi again,
Thanks so much for your encouragement guys! I had been recovering from an ear infection when I posted the original message, and I hadn't realized how much of my wimpyness with BM2 was due to that. Now I've been working on the new DVDs for a week, I feel ready for the challenge of DM. I did BM2 this morning and this time did the first AND the second step combo on 8inches. I made it through everything and just loved it. I am so happy Cathe has made these work outs.

I have ordered DM now and can't wait to try it. It really is cool how fast your stamina improves if you stick to the work outs and work at them, isn't it.

Lastly, I cleaned up my basement over the weekend and felt so happy looking at my weights all lined up neatly along with my stability ball, medicine ball, and bands all neatly arranged. I'm so happy!
