I hope this does not convince everyone NOT to weigh themselves - the vast majority of people who lose weight and keep it off DO weigh themselves at least once a month. I think the key is to weigh yourself in the morning before you're eaten anything, like the author said. It certainly doesn't make sense to get weighed after you've eaten - some of the salads I eat must weigh a couple of pounds anyway - not a lot of calories, but heavy, non-the-less. The scale is not your enemy - it CAN be a very useful weight loss tool.
Nothing more than a reality check.

I think most of us hate the scale because it forces us to be honest with ourselves, and face the fact that we need to really change our eating habits. If you exercise a lot and still don't lose weight, that's a clue - you're still eating too much of the wrong stuff.

Enough of my ramblings.

Great article Jean! Helps to rationalise some of the emotion surrounding the number on the dreaded scale. It's not so much the number on my scale that I use as a reality check, it's blue jeans, they NEVER lie :) Thanks for posting this link, it's a keeper.

Take Care

Ya know, I couldn't tell you how often I weigh myself. But it's probably more like every 2-3 months or so. Mainly if I feel my clothes getting tight. Even then I don't have to get on the scales. I know what to do and that's eat cleaner (as HB just pointed out) and that usually resolves it.
