Why do some do this????

DD works at a fast food restaurant. I set her up with nutritious food to eat from home before she goes in to work. Ocassionally she will eat an additional chicken leg or a hamburger there too. When she was working there last night, her boss (who by the way lives off the food there and probably has body fat of 60%) remarks that DD should eat 5 of those chicken legs and then proceeds to ask her if she is anoxeric. Seems like to me she would like DD to look like her so she wouldn't feel as guilty for eating so much sludge day in and out. I just think her boss should just mind her own business. She could have just complimented her and left it at that. Well I am off to do KPC now with all this in mind. Gonna be a good one!!!
Sorry, but I had to vent.

People can be so rude! That's it...she's just jealous that a teenager has a better handle on how to be healthy then she does! Be proud that your daughter takes to the healthy lifestyle and good for you for showing her the way!!!

Three cheers for Charlotte for not raising her kids on McDonalds! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! :7

Candi,

Well I was mad when she told me because I have heard this myself over and over again as a teenager and much of my life, to be exact. I told her the same thing as I mentioned in the post, that her boss is basically just jealous and for her to continue eating the way she does at home and pay no attention at all to an uneducated comment from an idiot (that pretty much sums it up) LOL

Charlotte~~

Good for you Charlotte!! RAising her to eat nutritious is the best thing you could do for her. It is so easy to let the kids eat fast food now a days. I've been guilty of the drive thru on the way to a ball game myself.

This leads me to add on to this: Why does our family and friends encourage the same thing??? My dad is specifically the one i am referring to. He will make all kinds of comments if i don't eat what he has made (we eat at their house alot, and he is the old fashion kind of eater, nothing broiled, everything in gravy...or thick in cheese etc..) He will really make me feel guilty for not eating everything. He has all good intentions, he is a 71 yr old man, but i leave there either a) feeling guilty for not eating what my father made or b.) eating too much of the wrong stuff.

The last time we ate there for a b-day for my brother, my mother actually made the comment she wasn't going to make cake anymore if we didn't eat it (we she was referring to was me).

What does a girl have to do to eat healthy and not get harrassed???

:(

Sometimes just saying it out loud (or typing it on the forum) makes you see it very clearly, eh?

Your daughter works for KFC? Bleah. That's one restaurant that never did it for me. It will probably turn her off to fried chicken for the rest of her life. When I was 19, I spent a month one summer working at a donut shop. I almost never want donuts anymore. ALMOST.

I get looks and comments about the way I eat at work all the time. Many are curious and want to know why I'm eating what I'm eating. I just blow it off the looks and comments...but I am older so I don't have a problem doing that. It's got to be really difficult for the younger generation trying to do the right thing :(

You're a great Mom, Charlotte. Your daughter is learning the best way, by the example you are setting for her :).

People can be so cruel sometimes. When I first lost weight, My family and strangers were so mean to me to the point I would get home and cry. All that I work for and people want to bash it! Sometimes I think others don't want to see you do good. People look at me weird when I don't eat what they do. They say awe you can afford to eat this, you are skinny enough. I wish they knew if I ate this all the time I would not be this small. Stupid people!!!!!!

Tell Your daughter to ignore this person and she is doing the right thing by being healthy.

To her, your daughter probably does look "too thin." If she's overweight, then her view of what is a "normal" weight it skewed.

Whatever her reasons, it was a pretty rude way to say it!
