Who is from Dallas or Texas in general?

I am here on business and I wanted to say, this is possibly the cleanest city I have ever been in! The downtown area is really beautiful and I am only sorry all of the local cultural attractions close at 5 since there is no way I can get out of the office early enough to catch them....

Our branch here has an opening coming up and I am tempted to post for it.

Anyway, just wanted to say, this is a very cool place! Lucky you guys!

Cheers,
Marie

I'm from Dallas, and I'm glad you like it! I love Downtown and the Uptown area. It's nice to hear people say complimentary things about our city. How long will you be in town?

Hey Marie --

I live in the DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) area and am really happy to hear you say that about our fine city :) There is a real effort to attract people to the area and they are trying to make downtown much more attractive (more housing, etc). I agree that it is one of the cleaner cities I've seen (although I have very little to compare it to). I always thought it was cleaner because it is relatively new (as compared to something like St. Louis -- I'm originally from MO).

We'd love to have you move here! I love it here and can't imagine ever moving back to MO. Also...housing here is much more affordable than a lot of cities (or so I've heard). People moving here from CA freak out when they see how much house they can get for the money!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Shonie

Shonie & Amy, thanks for the responses.

I am in town until tomorrow afternoon. Today I am working out at the hotel (Adam's Mark, pretty swanky) and then I am going to go sit outside for a while and soak in the sunshine. I am from PA and it has not been warm enough for sandals there, never mind sandals and shorts, lol.

And Shonie, you are right on the housing affordability. I am looking at the classifieds right now and keep thinking, "Are these houses just in really bad sections???" LOL

I did actually talk to the manager today about posting for the job that's open.... so we shall see!

Cheers,
Marie

Hey AmyBMomofThree,
I'm AmyB also, also a mom of 3, and also in Dallas! Imagine that...2 AmyB's w/ 3 kids in the metroplex. ;)
Marie, we would love to welcome you to Texas! The people are friendly and that's my favorite part!

Shonie,

Tell me why you would never move back to MO? I am working on my DH to move. My cousin relocated to DFW area, and I want to be closer to one of my relatives I grew up with. Anyhoo, he was born and raised here in MO. We are about 1 hour south of STL.

Hi everyone!

I live in Fort Worth and I love it. I am originally from Germany and moved to the States five years ago and now leave in Fort Worth since 3 years.
I didn't know that there a quite some people here from the DFW area, that is really great!!!:)

I live in the DFW burbs. I LOVE Dallas. The food is great (restaurants everywhere, serving every possible cuisine under the sun), the diversity is inspiring and eye-opening, and the people are very warm and welcoming. Real estate is reasonable and would make good investment possibilities for those willing to study and gamble in the market, many school districts are top-notch (because a lot of parents tend to invest in neighborhoods with laudable schools), and there are many places in the metroplex that are master-planned communities -- great places to raise a family.

The not-so-good things: the damn traffic (but if you study the maps, you'll always find a way around the busy areas), the very hot and sticky summers, and the pollution watches in the summer, which are really baaad for people with allergies and asthma, like me and my son. But between the Dallas summers and the Midwest winters, I'll take the former any time.

Marie, give us a holler if you move down here. That'd be awesome.:)

I lived in Dallas (Denton and Lewisville actually) for 5 years and loved it. I'm orginally from San Antonio, which is awesome too. So much culture (but hotter than Hades in the summer). I live in Reno now and LOVE it too! I've found I'm a natural at cross country skiing and snowshoeing although it rarely snowed in SA. Go figure! Its just a healthy conscious area here and the weather is very pleasant. But--you can't beat the Tex-Mex food back home. When I go home to visit, that is about all I eat!

Lori :)
