Who does something even if you don't like it?

Im going to try and force myself to do kickboxing twice a week but I hate doing it. Does anyone else do anything they hate just b/c they will get good results from it? I don't like working back but thats only 20 min. Now I have to do kickboxing for 45 min!
Any tips? I'd listen to different music but I think it will just throw me off a bit.
Lori:)

I really don't like to run, but will do it ocassionally out of necessity. Same as for eating. Really don't like fish, but will make myself eat it ocassionally.

When I am trying to pass a plateau and lift with a heavier weight, I will listen to some really driving...pumping up music (Collective Soul, etc.) It takes me to a whole new dimension. Pumps up my adrenaline and makes me a raging maniac! LOL

..yes...Circuit Max. I love it now but for years, I HATED that workout. I used to just bite the bullet and suffer through it butlatr learned to appreciate it more by pumping up the volume and finding things to make me laugh (watchign someone stumble, the things that Cathe says, etc). I also did maybe half of it at a time (coupled with weights) at first to get it down and keep myself interested. And I ALWAYS rewarded myself with doing my most favorite workuot the following day ;)

In the end, if you hate it that much...so much so that it is not giving you all the workout that it can, I'd say that you tried enough and to just use something diferent.

Christine :)

For me it is lunges - I HATE them with a passion. I wish that the workouts would start with them just so I could do them and get them out of the way. Even though I hate them, I still do them.

Any circuit workout! I hate them! I would rather either lift weights or do cardio. I cannot stand combining the two. I do it because I need to cross-train whether I like it or not. I also want to avoid hitting plateaus.

Sure - I hate Cardio Kicks, but do it sometimes. I hate fish, but eat it once a week. I clean the bathtub and the toilet...you get the picture.

I hate shoulder work!! x( But I do it anyway.
Also visiting my in-laws but that's another story.

Some of Cathe's earlier workouts! They are so effective but I have to admit I dread them - Powerhour, MIS, MIC and BodyMax are on the top of my list. Endurance work isn't easy for me but its so effective.

Running is also something I do more because it is good for me. But sometimes I go through phases where I really genuinely enjoy it.

I also hate, hate yoga! But I have been forcing myself to go for classes because it is apparently good for some of the health issues I have been facing.

And finally the thing I hate the most - DIETING! But I've recently gained 5lbs and I have no choice but to do it. But I am sure that it will be good for my confidence in the end.

I tend to dislike a lot of things that are good for me - sigh!

I hate running, especially alone. If someone I know wants to run I do it but very reluctantly. I dont like fish either, but I choke it down. I hate coconut-YUCK! Wont go near the stuff. I would rather clean the toilet than eat coconut.

Yup, almost every workout I have own has some part of it that I would prefer not to do, but I do it anyway (usually). I find that, when it comes to workouts, the stuff I dread is usually the stuff that taps into my weaknesses, so I actually should be doing it more often, to get better at it x(

If you dislike kickboxing so much, why force yourself to do it two times a week? Why not only do it once a week?

Cheers,
Sandra

Pretty much any cardio, but especially the IMAXs. Those workouts just wear me out. I don't really enjoy them b/c they're so freakin hard. It's not like Rhythmic Step or Step Blast, where if you're doing cardio at least it's a little fun & you don't feel like you should have the undertaker's number on speed dial.

I hate riding my exercise bike (or even the elipitcal without something good on TV while exercising), but I force myself to do it for crosstraining purposes (although I skipped it this week and opted for step aerobics).

I'm with Aila. Circuit workouts. I don't really like cardio and weights and core jumbled up together in one workout. But I do it because it's a good way to change gears and keep the body guessing.

Also sit and stands. And low ends.}(

LOL Maximus! Someone once mentioned a defibulator for the Imaxes. Maybe Cathe should start selling them with these work outs! ;)

I guess I dread lunges, but low ends the most! Are they really necessary, j/k?!!! I think that I'm starting to like my cardio separate from my weights. However, for the sake of time I like circuit work outs. I'm thinking summer this might be the way to go. I'm still trying to figure out how to manage the kids home and not getting up early to get my work out in this summer. Maybe I'll post that to see what all you moms do.

Low end static lunges, but I do my best to hang in there.

I've reached a point in my life that I refuse to do things I hate, even if they're good for me. I won't eat things I don't like just because I should. I can always find something equally nutritious to replace them, something that tastes good. And I won't do a workout if I hate it, because what's the point? - I want to feel good after my workout AND during. I work out because it makes me happy. If it doesn't make me happy, forget about it:p

Push-ups. Hate them, hate them, hate them. But Cathe makes me do them. And I have to admit that I do feel good when I get through all of them on my feet rather than my knees.

Oh yeah, and planks! Hate those too. I find it a little too easy sometimes to just skip right past those, but I force myself to do them most of the time.

I too hate doing push-ups. I used to do them very well, but then got lax. All this year I have really slacked off. Now for the past few weeks, I have been making myself do them twice a week. I have to be able to keep up with Cathe during the road trip, or I will be so embarrassed.

i do ALOT of things i don't like! exercise related though:

i HATE, with the most extreeme passion that you can fathom, plyojacks!!!!! first, they make me feel "cheer-leaderish" 2nd, they make my heart explode and i always think to myself "ok, i'm going to die looking like utter dammit and smelling worse!" huge bummer!x( they have gotten easier though and i guess that is something...

i too hate push-ups! i cannot do them on my toes yet, but at least i can lift my carcass off the ground now! in the begining i hated them b/c they reminded me how heavy i had becomex( now i hate them because i don't like any exercise that i have to get on the floor for unless it is time to stretch! What a tease!

the only thing i refuse to do is lunges. i hate them too much to conceede.

jes}(

You are too funny! Carcass?!! I love lunges! My old trainer made me do these all the time & they are "almost" a breeze. Thanks Rex!
