Which would you recommend and why? LA Weight Loss or Weight Watchers
Have you had any experience with either of these? What was your results?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I don't have any experience with LA Weight Loss, but I have a lot of experience with WW. I started going about 4 years ago and I lost 61 lbs. They really teach you to change your eating lifestyle so that you can do it for the rest of your life. They emphasize healthy eating habits and they encourage adding exercise. They have 2 plans, the flex points plan and the core plan. I've always done the flex points, it seems more flexible to me than the core plan. Many people have had great success with the core plan too, it's very similar to clean eating. Like any diet it can be hard to follow all the time. I gained back about 15 lbs, but I have changed my eating habits drastically and I know how to lose weight now. I know that I will never go back to being as heavy as I was and I can lose the 15 lbs that I gained. It's not easy, it requires dedication and hard work, but they will teach how to do it. People tend to lose weight slower on WW than on some other programs, but that's healthier and it tends to stay off better that way. Also that gives you more time to learn the program and to form good eating habits. Before I joined I couldn't see how going to the meetings could help, but it really does.

Good luck, hope this helps!

i have no experience with either, but i've heard so many glowing things about WW and nothing really outside of advertisements for LAF. i do have a very good friend who started jenny craig in january and has lost over 25 lbs and loves it.

I'm doing WW now. I was having trouble getting rid of pregnancy weight but once I joined WW I have lost 28 lbs. I'm back to what I was before I got pregnant the first time and I'm still trying to lose about 15 lbs more. I like that WW is a sensible plan--eat right and exercise, but they give you a lot of help with the mental part, too. I currently do the Core plan that someone mentioned and I love it. It's like eating very clean but you also get a little leeway if you happen to eat a non-Core food so it doesn't seem too restrictive. With the Core plan you don't count points (which are calculated based on calories/fat/fiber content) but you just eat the foods on a list of healthy natural foods. I don't go hungry but I still lose weight.

I have never tried either one, but I have several friends who have had great success with WW. They say that it is easy to follow, and hte meetings (and paying for them) is what helps them.

There was a story on some news magazine recently -- maybe 20/20 or Dateline -- about LA Weight Loss and the schemes they use to get you to buy lots of extras like snack bars and such.

I don't have experience with either program...

My mother in law did LAWL. She had a lot to lose, maybe 125ish, and had to pay upfront the $7 a week. Then she had to pay for a year of maintenance. Well, they say you will lose 2lbs a week, so they estimate the weeks you pay for by that. Of course no one can average 2 a week and get to goal, so it ends up costing more. Then, after she signed up, they told her she HAD to buy these LA bars...at like 2.50 a week.

She did lose weight...about 75lbs, but couldn't afford it when it ended up taking way longer and she had to pay more money, like a thousand more in a lump sum, so she quit. Since then, she's gained her weight back. She tells me now that they don't TEACH how to eat healthy, the tell you what to eat and you do it.

HTH!

I used WW and lost 25 pounds about 5 years ago. It did teach me how bad my eating habits were and taught how to eat using real food and letting me make the decisions.

My sister tried LA Weight Loss but never lost any weight. She didn't like the food and found it hard to figure what to eat when we went out to dinner.

Good luck to you!

Colleen

My girlfriend lost weight on LAWL, but it was a lot of money. She lost weight quickly. Initially she could only eat green items! I think WW teaches you how to eat healthy for life, not just to lose the weight. In WW there are no gimmics just healthy eating.
