Hi Cathe,
I have a few of your workouts and have yet to start using them but plan to begin as soon as I decide which one will be best for me.
I am not a stranger to weights and lifting but I feel I need a workout I can start and make improvements with slowly as I am not as fit as I used to be.(IE: can't do many pushups etc)
I have Pyramids, Power Hour and Pure Strength.
I have been watching them and trying to decide which one I will be able to handle best.
I wonder if you or any one else can help me to know which workout would be best for someone like myself who is capable yet out of shape?
I don't have a barbell but assume I can make do with dumbells for a while, right?
I will get a few new titles in the new year but I want to start right now as I have reached a time in my life where the opportunity is finally presenting itself.
Hope you can help..
Kelly
Oh.. the new site is great by the way!

Hi! Once you start using your workouts you will be hooked. I was in a very similar situation to you at the beginning of the summer. I found Cathe on FIT-TV. I started going to the gym to do cardio, and then would come home and do Cathe weights taped from FIT-TV. I started by using the pyramids. They are great more traditional type workouts - imo. For pyramid lower, you do need a stability ball.

The great thing about the pyramids, is they are very flexible. I took what I thought would be the heaviest I could lift and used that as my heavy weight. So when I started, for chest press, I thought the most I could do was 8 lbs. So I did the first set on 3, then 5 then 8. I am now up to using 12lbs for my heaviest. Also some people on the boards, say they do the pyramids more endurance style, using lighter weights anyway.

I also don't have a barbell. The fit-tv condensed pyramids for upper does not use a barbell, don't remember about lower, but I've been able to do all the workouts using dumbells.

My vote would be to start with the pyramids.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
