Which Video is right for me?

Hi, I am a 25 year old stay at home mother that has been doing Aerobics to a 1980's VHS. It is no longer challenging to me and would like to not only purchase a DVD but to also get a video that is right for me. Which brings me to my question. I would still consider myself a Novice at working out. I am 5'7" and weigh 110. My intentions are toning and muscle strengthening. Will you please give me some insight on what is best for me and my workouts! Thanks, Amanda Baltensberger

Hi Amanda!

All of Cathe's cardio videos are pretty advanced. However, if you're looking to gain muscle I would suggest you start out with Maximum Intensity Strength. It is a full body weight workout. You can easily split it into two days. I would also suggest Power Hour, which is shorter, and in my opinion, a lot more fun.
Obviously, you have to have weights to do these workouts. You can start out with light dumbells, then build your way up.(Cathe uses a barbell, but it's not absolutely necessary.)
What kind of cardio are you looking for? Wedding Video is a good starter Cathe. She uses a step in this workout and also has some light weightwork at the end. Hope this helps!!!!:)

Sherry

P.S. All Cathe's tapes are now available on DVD.:7

Oh, thanks very much! I am so ready to retire my old video and start fresh! Thanks very much, your message is greatly appreciated!! Amanda

Hi Amanda,

I second the previous opinion but I also wanted to reccomend that you check out www.videofitness.com .It is a great site and has lots of reviews of different types of workouts including all of Cathe's.

The Wedding Video

"How to get in Shape for Your Wedding"- even though it's old, it's not *that* old and it has 2 full workouts: step for almost an hour and weights for pretty long too. It's a good intro th Cathe's later, harder stuff.

This is coming from a person who does not have the video mentioned! But I worked my way up with The Firm so I got Power hour, Pure Strength first, and my mom picked out Imax as the free bonus video! After the shock wore off, I got hooked!

I think Power Hour is the best place to start for weights. It is an hour, works the whole body, and is really good fun, as people have said previously. You can start light and work up. MIS is good, but harder and longer, so I would start with Power Hour. (If you buy the DVD, you will get both anyway, plus BodyMax)

Hi Amanda:I agree with the wedding video. Its a great intro to Cathe tapes.Plus its like getting two videos for the the price of one.One half is step and the other weights.~Linda~
