which to do first?

runfree

Cathlete
I have a half marathon two weeks from this sunday. After the half is over I plan on buying both insanity and chalean extreme. I have a cruise next may and I definately want to get leaner and lose some wt and I dont know which of these two workout series I should do first. What do you recommend those of you who have done both of these series. Iknow there both great as I have read your results from both. I am excited and ready to switch things up a bit and not have to run, run run. Dont get me wrong, Ilove running but when you follow a schedule for 17 weeks and you have to run when it says to run for that long of a time , your ready for a change. I can run when I want to after the 18th and not have to run a certain day for a certain of amount of time. I am ready to enjoy running just to run again and not because of a training schedule. But like I said, I am excited about both these series of workouts and cant wait to get started. which do you recommend to do first? thanks.

STS is a much better program than CLX for strength and Insanity rocks cardio. I would skip CLX entirely and stick to Insanity and STS.

My thoughts for you are to do Chalene Extreme first if you haven't been doing much lifting lately, plus, your body will appreciate the rest from the impact of running. Insanity is nothing but all out impact, high intensity exercise. Do you have P90X? That is my preference over Chalene but of course, that's just me. And to be fair, I never did much of Chalene Extreme. Or do you have STS?

Exactly what I almost tacked onto the end of mine - my two choices would be Insanity and STS! Great minds...;)

I dont have sts but I do have P90x. I didnt like to follow p90x rotation. Tony is okay but couldnt stand him everyday so I never followed that rotation.

Frankly, I much prefer CLX over STS. I'm a fan of lift hard, lift heavy, and it you've done it right you won't have much to give beyond the 30-40 minutes CLX takes.

I agree with the poster who recommends NOT going the Insanity route. You have been focusing on endurance cardio and if Insanity focuses more on knee-busting cardio, then give that a rest for a while and pick up the STS you already own and get busy. Give your body a break from the same type of exercise, change up the focus for a better response. All reports are that STS will increase leanness and has less of a dread factor than Insanity too (from reading reports on these forums).

If you are going on a trip, save your money for spending there and use the workouts you already have rather than buying more.
