Which program for better results- BFL or Les Mills classes?

Due to my work schedule I have foundt aht working out at lunch is about my only option these days. So that rules out videos for a while. I have 30ish pounds to lose, preferably by this summer so not alot of room for error. I have the option of taking Les Mills classes (it would be 2x Bodypump, BodyCombat, BodyStep, BodyFLow and then RPM or another BC or BS class), or I could do a 12 wk round of BFL. I'm looking for serious fat loss and visible muscles without being beefy.

As I type this I'm considering merging the two, follow the BFL eating but take the Les Mills classes. I'm concerned that 1) the BFL won't be enough cardio (everyone's concern with BFL) and 2) I'll get bored with BFL while the classes will push me and keep me interested since I"m very competitive.

Also, I play indoor soccer 2x/week and really need to get my cardio endurance up there for this.

I have never done BFL, but my gym offers all of the above mentioned Les Mills classes. They really are a nice variety. If you need cardio, RPM is a kicker. The music is fantastic and the interval work is very challenging. You will be a sweaty mess. BodyCombat is a great cardio workout and I really feel it in my upper body the next day. My shoulders are screaming at me every move I make. If you are used to Cathe step workouts, BodyStep may bore you. Having said that the workout is still challege and I am dripping when it is over. BodyPump is not my favorite but that is just my opinion and one held by few because it is one of the most packed classes at the gym. I find I am very stiff when I do the workout the first time and then my body becomes accustomed to it. BodyFlow is one of my favorites and I really notice a difference in the health of my back and my hips are opening too.

I love, love, love, Les Mills classes. The music is great and choreographed with care. I don't think you will go wrong with any of them. How nice for you that you have so many noon hour options. Good luck in you quest in losing weight. I have 20 plus pounds to go. I think we can do it!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Which program for better results- BFL or Les Mills ...

I have tried Body Pump and Body Step. I loved Body Pump as it reminds me of Power Hour which I absolutely love. I agree with the above poster. You may find Body Step a bit boring. It is definitely tough and gives a great workout, but the choreography isn't near Cathe. I remember only 1 section being a bit complicated which, of course, was my favorite section, but the instructor didn't really seem to like teaching that part. I think it was too complicated for her, but it was really fun for me. The music in both classes was great.

Interesting dilemma! Maybe you could do BFL but sub in some Les Mill classes now and then to keep things interesting? For instance, sub a BFL cardio with an RPM for a bit of variety... still interval-ish, but slightly longer.

I always find if you don't have much time, the LM classes are handy coz they're so structured. you can rock up to the class and almost leave your brain in the office coz they tell you exactly what to do and you're guaranteed to get a good workout :)
