WHICH ONE(S)? - TLT's/P90X/Turbo Jams/Cardio Coach

I need something new for awhile.......

Just looking for reviews on these compared against each other as far as quality and value.....

I need to focus on cardio and core strength!! That is my next goal........right now I am doing Cathe's March Rotation for strength.......fyi

I've tried at least some of all of these systems.

TLT's: great! Very beneficial for posture, stability, balancing what may get unbalanced by more traditional weight work. Start with FYC and SIM and get the other two later if you want (the other two have a steeper learning curve, IMO).

P90X: my best fitness investment in a long time pre-TLT's. Tony has some functional fitness takes on traditional strength training. I love the way he sequences the weight work (push-pull or circuit) so it's more time efficient and effective. I needed more lower body to keep my booty where I want it to be. Not tough cardio, but not meant to be, in order to maintain maximum muscle.

Turbo Jams: I previewed "Ab Jam" and some other workout (with weights) but haven't tried them. Some of the moves look unsafe (like doing a 'hip wiggle' while pushing up from a squat--seems like the back would not like that). Kind of uncontrolled, IMO. NOt enough actual kickboxing for my tastes.

Cardio Coach: I use this on my rebounder and Transfirmer. Excellent (just shut off the CD player at the end before you hear one of Sean's jokes--annoying). Good if you have some kind of equipment at home and can figure out what to do while listening to it (I turn the TV on with no sound and subtitles and 1/2 watch it). I'd start with volume 3, then add on (up or down) from there.

Wish I could taste test them all! I think I might order one of the TLT's - FYC and one of the Cardio Coach's - hmmmmmm.......will see..........

>Wish I could taste test them all!

That would be nice, wouldn't it?

Have you checked out the previews at www.tracielongtraining.com for the TLT's? They give a good idea of what the workouts are like (they show a bit of each of the segments of the workouts).

I just ordered Finding your core :)

I might order a Cardio Coach this weekend and just wait on the P90X.....I really want it, but i rather get the WHOLE thing and not bits and pieces of that one....

That's a good one to start with. But be aware that it is unique of the TLT's in that it is the only one that uses the stability ball exclusively, and it doesn't contain any cardio. I found it closest to more 'traditional' weight work, and the easiest one to get into.

Good choice. The TLT's are so different from Cathe and heavy weight work. It will be a nice change.

Kathryn,
I would love an example of how you use the Transfirmer with CC. TIA!

Hi, Angela!
I do the "hill climbs" on the Transfirmer. Level 4 climbs are just up-up/down-down on the incline section, staying with one lead until Sean says that 1 minute is up, then changing leads. Sometimes I do more of a leap onto the Transfirmer.

Level 4 climbs are straddles with overhead presses (I wear 2# weighted gloves).
