LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-01 AT 03:07PM (Est)[p]im really choreography challenged especially when it comes to step aerobics. that means i prefer athletic(rather than dancy)moves; moderate choreography but high intensity. i really like Reebok's Intense Moves. i also have Cathe's the Wedding Video which i think is her easiest. i want to buy more of her videos but it seems that most of her videos have complex choreography. can anyone please rate cathe's videos in terms of intensity, complexity and choreography?

do the following videos have athletic moves with high intensity or dance oriented complex moves?
1. MEGA STEP BLAST
2. STEP HEAT
3. STEP MAX
4. BODYMAX
5. MIC
6. IC
7. CIRCUIT MAX
8. CTX SERIES- 10 10 10
9. CTX SERIES- ALL STEP
10.CTX SERIES- STEP AND INTERVALS
11.CTX SERIES- POWER CIRCUIT

ACTUALLY I ALREADY ORDERED THE DVDS FOR CIRCUIT MAX,CARDIO KICKS, CTX SERIES, RHYTHMIC STEP/IC/MIC, POWER HOUR/MIS/BODYMAX. I REALLY DONT KNOW IF I MADE GOOD CHOICES. PLEASE TELL ME THAT MOST OF THESE DVDS ARE NOT TOO COMPLEX OR TOO DANCY- I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY AND I DONT WANT TO JUST END UP WATCHING THEM AND NOT DOING THE VIDEOS. THANKS!!!

RE: INTERVAL MAX (of course by La Cathe)

If you want basic choreography and the highest intensity you'll very find in a step video, Cathe's "Interval Max" is it! Makes "Intense Moves" feel like a walk in the park.

I'm seriously choreographically challenged myself (two left feet and six toes on each one), so "I-Max" totally fits the bill. Only problem is there's only one of them; I pipe up every now and then to ask La Cathe to make "Son of I-Max", "Bride of I-Max", "Beneath the Planet of the I-Max" . . . so far no soap. Oh well. There's always the next round of videos after her next five come out.

Have fun!

My first recommendation would be Maximum Intensity Cardio - simple choreography, but very intense. I think there is about 25 minutes of hi/lo followed by 30 minutes of tough step.
Don't be afraid of the "complex choreography" descriptions, though - I think most of Cathe's choreography is really not that hard to follow. The hardest ones for me to get was Step Works and then Step Fit.
Hope this helps.

The step section of MIC, I agree, is easier because of the number of times a move is repeated. I don't think Cardio Step Challenge is available anymore, but I thought that was pretty easy, too. And I think you should not be afraid of the choreography. When I first started doing Cathe's tapes, the first thing I did was lower my step to 6 inches, and that seemed to help, but I also think she is just wonderful at breaking things down, so that even the most difficult moves (for me it was the 360 degree turn on Power Max)I eventually complete. The tape that took me the longest to learn was StepWorks--but then that means it has a much longer novelty for me--and I never felt that I wasn't getting a good workout in the process of learning.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-29-01 AT 02:15AM (Est)[p]I just ordered body max and power max...I am new to cathe and from what I have read I might have just jumped at the wrong tapes! It's just that they looked soooo much fun on the video clips. I know I am going to struggle with these ... but wish me luck! I am an intermediate stepper and I can usually get through a step 2 class, Kelli roberts, Gin Miller and Firm tapes, and I spin too. But I have been lurking around this board for a couple of weeks and these two tapes really appealed to me, so I decided to just see if I would like them!

THANKS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS ANNETTE, ERICA AND LYNDA!

Please read my newly edited message. I included a list of some videos/dvds which I plan to buy in the future and which I recently bought. I am very worried especially with the DVDs I bought because I am anxious that they might have very complex choreography and I might just give up learning the steps. I have spent quite a fortune for these DVDs so I really don't want to just end up watching Cathe and her friends. I have seen some CIA videos and they are a killer especially those by Fanny Bennedetto, Heather Day, Christi Taylor and Donna Read. They just made my eyes pop out...and I could just faint with the very complex moves!!! Christi Taylor's videos seem fun though because she seems friendly and the music is great.

Anyway guys, I will await for your reply ok! Just give me your opinions about the videos/dvds I listed in my original message!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

im just new to cathe myself but practically bought most of her DVDs!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-31-01 AT 01:57PM (Est)[p]i am an intermediate stepper myself. i just ordered the DVDs of Cathe- CTX, Cardio Kicks, Circuit Max, Rhythmic Step, IM, MIC, Power Hour, MIS, Bodymax. yes i have spent so much! i only have her Wedding Video and so far i really enjoyed it a lot! but take note, it is considered to be her "easiest" one so i am preparing myself for those DVDs. i hope i can survive them all. i dont mind the intensity...i am concerned about complex choreography.i hope i wont get frustrated with the DVDs. however, i have read that Cathe cues very well.

i also have The Firm and Reebok videos. i think Intense Moves is a really fun video! what other videos have u tried that doesnt have complex choreography? did u try keli roberts, janis saffell, mindy mylrea? how about the cia videos?

is the choreography of Powermax and Bodymax very difficult? i thought Bodymax has more athletic moves rather than complex dancy steps? please advice since u already tried them out.

THANKS ANNETTE LYNDA AND ERICA FOR YOUR OPINIONS

ill keep them in mind! i am so excited to do more of Cathe's DVDs. u wont believe it but after just working out on the Wedding Video, i just feel that i have to own more of her tapes. i prefer DVDs though so i ordered almost all of her DVDs. wish me luck that i can survive them all. im not worried about intensity, it's the complex choreography(that she's so famous for) that i am really anxious about. i have spent quite a fortune with these DVDs so i hope i can do all them on a regular basis! have a great day guys!

RE: im just new to cathe myself but practically bought most of her DVDs!

Congratulations on all your purchases. I love all these tapes. I think Bodymax is a bit easier than Power Max in terms of choreography because the moves are repeated quite a bit, but as I said in my reply, even the toughest moves will come gradually because she gives such great cues and breaks things down so well. Have fun!
