Hi..
I read about how different workouts are geared towards different things.
Can you tell me whether Power hour, MIS, Body Max and Pyramids are strength or endurance and how do I tell the difference between the two.
I hope that's not a stupid question.
Thanks so much,
Kelly

No such thing as a stupid question!

Power Hour/MIS/Body Max would be considered endurance workouts (although MIS can be made either). The Pyramids would be considered strength workouts. Endurance workouts are characterized by lifting moderate to heavy weight for a certain amount of time, varying counts during this time (single time, two up, two down, pulse counts). For example, in Power Hour you are doing squats for the length of a song with tempo variations during the squat segment. Strength workouts typically encourage heavy to 'the max you can lift' weight and have very specific amounts of reps and sets (like 8 reps done for 3 sets). In the pyramids you take a lighter weight and do one set of 12 reps, grab heavier weight and do one set of 10 reps, grab your heaviest weight and do one set of 8 reps, then go back down the pyramid.

HTH,

Hi Kelly,

Sabine knows her stuff!

I found a good post a while back and copied it down- I'm sorry I can't credit the writer!

The workouts at the top of the list are endurance, with the first being the most endurance based and the following less endurance based as you progress downward. The last is strength based, and as you move up, less strength based...

ENDURANCE
Power Hour
Muscle Endurance
MIS
Supersets
Push Pull
Pyramids
Pure Strength
Slow & Heavy
STRENGTH

Hope that helps.

Thanks Gina! I wanted a new workout, not sure which to get. S&H was too much for me, but I wanted something heavier than the Pyramids which I have and love. Now I can get Pure Strength! should be what I am looking for.

Pure Strength is a great workout. As I recall, there are a couple of shoulder and tricep moves in PS upper body that Cathe doesn't use in the other videos and they are both fun and challenging.
