Hi Cathe,
I am new to you and your DVD's. I found you on fittv and really like your workout style. I am interested in learning which dvd's would be best to start with for just weightlifting and ab work. I don't do step aerobics for cardio. (Im horrible at it) I run, bike, rollerblade, and kayak for cardio exercise. But, I don't weight lift and would like to start and incorporate it into my exercise regimine. Which dvd's can you suggest I start out with? Keeping in mind I have not weight lifted in years. I do have hand weights, but do not own the weight lifting bar. I would love to try your dvd's, what would you suggest first?
Thank you,
Lisa

Hi Lisa! Actually any of my weight workouts can be done at this time. The only thing you need to do is use lighter weights (or even no weight on some of the more challenging exercises (ie: deadlifts, squats, and lunges) and work your way up to a weight that challenges you. Take two to three weeks to acclimate to the workout before finding that challenging weight. Handweights can be substituted in place of the barbell too. Eventually I think it would benefit you to purchase a barbell though.

If you want total body workouts (meaning hitting all the body parts in just one workout) you can try:

Power Hour
Muscle Endurance
Maximum Intensity Strength
Muscle Max

If you want to do split workouts (hitting all the body parts with two or three workouts) you can try:

Pure Strength Series
Slow and Heavy Series
Gym Style Workouts

Key thing to remember is to watch the workout first (we all have a couple of loads of laundry to fold while doing this :) )so you know what to expect and always use light weight (or if more comfortable on certain exercises, no weight) for a conditioning period before going for the total challenge.

Good Luck!
