which Cathe workout is best for this...

So, after everyone's advice to do more wt. lifting vs. cardio to decrease body fat (really, I'm not obsessing about this:eek: ), I'd really rather do this at home vs. at our YMCA. I have a barbell and hand weights and here are the cathe w/o's I have. Which would be best?

Gym Style Legs
KPC/L&G
Cardio and weights
bodymax2
LIC
Drill Max
Boot Camp/ME

I haven't really purchased any of her pure weight lifting ones like pyramids or Slow and Heavy - should I would one of these suffice?

As always, I appreciate all the knowledgeable input!

Hi Heidi,

Both Gym Style Legs and L&G are great lower body workouts. You might want to get some upper body ones if you want to do a three day split. I have all three Gym Style and I love them! I do three days of weights and three days of cardio and have one day off.

With the dvds that you have, I believe both Bodymax2 and C&W have upper body premixes, but I don't have LIC or BootCamp/ME so I am not sure what is available for those.

I also really like the Pyramids - I saw some really good strength gains with these when I first started lifting heavier.

I haven't gotten Slow & Heavy (yet :)), I think that I may get STS rather than any more of Cathe's older dvds.

I am sure that there are others here that have way more of Cathe's dvd's than I do and will be able to give you better advice.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi Heidi,

I'd second Coradora's recommendation to get the rest of the Gym Style series and to try a three-day split, where you do three days a week of weights, and then a few days of cardio.

I was doing circuits for many months and not seeing any progress; it wasn't until I started doing three-day splits with the GS and S&H series that I finally started putting on muscle and losing weight.

HTH!:)

Boot Camp / ME !!

This one has the best whole body workout that will help burn fat yet put you past the "cardio only" routine.

I agree you should get a few more DVD's, such as the pyramids (my favourite for building endurance and kicking up the motabolism).

But of the ones you mentioned I think that BOTH of the wo's on that DVD would be great starting points!

Heidi, I agree, I love the gym style workouts as well. They are great and really challenging. I also love the 4 day split weights too.
