Which Cardio Coach is best for a....

I would think any of them would work on a bike. If I'm not mistaken, I think Sean O'Malley is a spin coach!

ETA that I would love to try the workouts on a bike. I've only done them on an elliptical but I'm feeling an urge to branch out ;)

>I'm feeling an urge to branch out

OMG!!!! Look everyone -- Michele -- Michele -- can you believe she said this? Someone please make a note of this -- she said "an urge to branch out" and it's in the realm of (shhhh...) C-A-R-D-I-O!!!

I know, I know! It's crazy, but Cardio Coach makes me all silly inside! http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/7.gif

ETA but I'm only interested in trying a bike. Don't go thinking about putting me on a dreadmill, because that WOULD be crazy! :p

Michele,

You lucky thing!

The first time doing a CC workout on a new machine makes it feel like an entirely new workout. I love experiencing the first feel of a CC on a new machine.

I've done my CC workouts:
a. Running on the treadmill including hills
b. Running the rest and walking the hills
c. On the elliptical
d. On the recumbent bike
e. On the spin bike (only Vol 4)
f. On a mix of equipment - example first challenge on bike, second on treadmill, third on elliptical.

My favorite way is to run on the treadmill and mish-mosh comes a close second. A spin-bike is super too (I love getting out of the seat and turning the resistance way high for the hills), except I dont have easy access to a spin bike.

Michele,

You simply MUST try atleast one challenge on the treadmill. There is no inititial d in Cardio Coach Land.

Vrinda, it is my dream to someday work out with you! You're a machine, and you have this way of expressing joy about your workouts. It's just so much fun to read about your exploits in the gym. :)

I don't have a gym membership. In fact, I had one that I didn't renew and used the money to buy a Precor Elliptical instead, so I don't have access to any other machines. I'd love to buy a nice spin bike but I don't have any place to put it x( (maybe I need a new house :D ). Anyway, I have a beautiful hybrid bicycle just sitting in my garage unused and I'm thinking about converting it to a stationary bike. I'd love to try out my beloved Cardio Coach workouts on a different piece of equipment!

As for the dreadmill, and yes, I mean dread -- lol -- I've never been comfortable using one. I've figured out that I have weak ankles and very stiff, inflexible feet. When I'm walking on a treadmill my feet feel like they're smacking the belt. I don't know if that makes sense but the problem seems to be that I can't roll from heel to toe, and then I get a horrible burning sensation in my lateral (outside) ankles, up into my calf muscles. I worked with a personal trainer on this issue -- she had me using a dard and doing calf raises ad infinitum to try and strengthen the surrounding muscles but it just didn't work. So, I'm afraid the treadmill is out for me. ;)

Michele,

Your foot/ankle pain does not sound like "good pain". I am glad you gave up on the treadmill. When there are so many safe options, it makes no sense to do something that does not agree with you.

Do try yoga if you dont already and see if you like it. It makes everything including your feet and ankles flexible. But it is important to learn from a good and well trained teacher. People who teach yoga after a few months of training scare me.

Vrinda,

I haven't done much yoga. I tried a couple of DVD's -- I don't even remember what kind or who the instructors were -- but it didn't appeal to me. Is there a particular DVD/instructor you would recommend for a yoga newbie?

Tanya.

Every single cardio coach works well on a recumbant bike. If you are new to CC, you might want to start with volumes 1 through 3 (3 being my favorite on the bike). Volumes 4 & 5 are next in terms of difficulty. The longest and hardest volumes are 6, 7 and (I presume) 8. I have both a recumbant bike and an elliptical, and I like to do the volumes with lots of sprints on the bike and the volumes with lots of hills on the elliptical.

You can't go wrong with a recumbant bike and CC!

Vrinda, see my question ^^^^ there about yoga -- can you recommend a DVD for a newbie?

TIA, most knowledgeable one! :7
