Where to buy barbells?

Can you tell me where you bought your barbells. I've always used dumbells but was thinking it's time to get some.

My son has set but I'm looking for the smaller ones (his is like 7 feet and 60 lbs).

I have bought mine thru Target or Shopko, they sell them with weight plates too. (I'm cheap!) My DH also found me a set at a garage sale. 25 lb plates!!!.....Carole

I have 3, got 1 from Dick's Sporting Goods & 2 from Sports Authority. Both stores had about the same pricing. The smaller of the 3 are 5 ft long & weigh 15 lbs. The sets were 110 lb sets & cost $40.

the one Cathe uses in her latest series are available at WalMart but have hollow bars & felt really flimsy to me. I can do 75 lb squats, I don't think that bar would hold 75 lbs.

Robyn, I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods too. It was a 110 lb. plate set with a barbell (15 lbs) and 2 adjustable dumbbells. I really like those. I have 5s, 8s and 10s (regular dumbbells) and now I can make 15s, 20s, 25s, or whatever I need without having all those single sets sitting around.

I don't remember the price of the set but it was pretty reasonable (on sale).

I don't use any weight higher than 40# on my barbell (yet). But I got this set from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...58-5018415?v=glance&s=sporting-goods&n=507846

I had to get some lighter (2.5# and 5#) plates from my local Play it Again Sports. This set comes with sets of 8#, 10# and 20# plates. The best thing about it is that Amazon only charged me $4.95 shipping! So I thought it was a terrific deal.
