Where do you eat out with healthy meals?

1 - Chick-fil-A - grilled chicken sandwich with side salad

2 - Bob Evans - grilled chicken, green beans and broccoli or carrots

3 - Golden Corral - salad and veggies and small portion of meat & NO dessert. Takes some self control for me.

4 - Local restaurants where I can get steamed shrimp, 2 small red potatoes and one small ear of corn.

5 - local chinese restaurant that has on sight chef and have him cook whatever you bring him off the raw food buffet. Means chicken & shrimp are not cooked in bunches of butter and get all the veggies you want. Great choice!

We have lots of restaurants like Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden and all those high calorie places but we never go there cuz I don't know that they have any healthy options.

Where do you go? I'm looking for some new options.

I like to look at a particular restaurant's website prior to going out. This way at least I have an idea of what I'm getting myself into. :D

Dennys - they have a lighter chicken breast entree (the calories are listed on the website I believe).

IHOP - they also have low-cal choices with the nutrition info right on the menu

Chilis - I was just there a couple weeks ago and had a chicken breast with veggies. Not sure of the calories, fat, etc, but it was in their "light" section.

If in doubt, I find it's best to stick with simple foods that I would eat at home like vegetables, a chicken breast, etc. I try to avoid eating white bread or anything else that is obviously unhealthy.

Applebees' has a weight watchers menu. I like the chili-lime chkn salad (I think that's what it's called) off of there. The raspberry chocolate cake isn't bad either! ;)

Outback has a grillers menu where you can get chicken grilled pretty plain plus a veggie and then I'll get a baked sweet potato (hold the fixings) as well. YUM!

Otherwise I do as the above poster mentioned whenever possible and try to plan ahead by looking up nutritional info and ordering the LEAST of the evils that are offered.

Well, I don't eat out hardly ever, but when I do I usually get a dark green salad (if possible) and put grilled chicken and any kind of veggies to add to the salads. And I use Light balsamic dressings or whatever "light" dressing they have.

I sometimes will have fruit on the side. Most restuarants have salads with grilled meat. So that's what I get. And it's not all that bad for you either, well at least I don't think so! hehe;)

I feel quite lucky that where I live there are several healthy restaurants. Right across from campus is a place that is all soup and salad, so I go there often. You fill out a form where you pick everything you want, so it can be as healthy as I like! One of my favorite restaurants is a Tibetan place, which is just like Indian food but without all of the cream. Very nice and the saag is to die for! There is a mall very close to campus that has a Panera bread with good soups and salads (just avoid the big hunk of bread they give you :) ), a healthy, fast Japanese restaurant that gives you endless options and encourages substitutions, and another all salad place. There are also Whole Foods markets on almost every corner, so if all else fails, I go to one of those for lunch. Very easy to stay healthy! (if I choose to ;) )

Coming from a town with nothing but casino food and fast-food chains, I feel so incredibly fortunate.

We go to the Cheesecake Factory a lot, and I usually get one of the Weight Management salads, with the dressing on the side. I think they are really good...

Here's a website with nutrition data for a lot of restaurants. I don't see many on the list that I go to, but it may be useful for some of you.

One of our local chinese restaurants has a "bamboo steamed" portion of the menu where you can order steamed veggies with chicken or seafood and no sauce. If you eat at the restaurant, you can add hot mustard and low-sodium soy sauce, or when I order in, I add a few drops of szechuan sauce to the soy sauce. Yummy.

For Olive Garden I get the salad, the tilapia and vegetables or have them substitute the whole wheat spaghetti with a marinara sauce. I just don't eat the bread sticks, cause I can't eat just one.

My Favorites...

I love O'Charley's - I order the petite grilled salmon W/ Chipotle BBQ sauce on the side, plain Baked Pot with lemons on this side (lemons make a Bpot taste less dry and are good) and a salad with Basalmic dressing on the side. I push away the bread basket.

I was just in Colorado Springs for work (I live in ATL) and I ate at FROOTS. Very good. Whole Wheat Wraps were tasty with hummus and spinach, etc. I'm going to look for them here...

Also will go to Subway and get a 6" turkey sub with spinach, veggies, mustard and vinegar with a little bit of EVOO. I leave off the cheese... Hits the spot and while there's more bread than I need, it is a good option.

What else? Are their other good options that are your favs??
