When you miss a workout in a rotation...WDYD?

I'm just curious what everyone else does when they have to miss a workout in their rotation. Do you try to make it up later? I seem to have some anal retentive problem with skipping a workout altogether and I try to make it up even if it means doing two in one day. Is anyone able to just skip it and move on?

Sometimes I skip it and move on. Other times, I skip that day and do that workout the next day -- so I'm off a day or two on the rotation, and maybe it takes me 4.5 weeks to complete it.

I always get torn between wanting to do the rotations as they are and needing to listen to my body, which sometimes tells me that 6 days in a row of all Cathe is a bit much for me.

I use to be SO anal if I missed a workout. I would try to do two in one day to "make it up". That was before kids.....now I just try to do something every day. If I miss a day (which has been happening more often than I would like) I don't worry about it. As long as I can get in some weights and some cardio I feel OK. Don't beat yourself up.
What I did realize is that I didn't need to kill myself to keep in shape. I was very surprised at how little I did have to do maintian my fitness level.

I just let it go.

After all, I figure no one's on their death bed saying, "If I only hadn't missed that workout...

or spent another day at work." Bwahahahaha!

I agree.

But I usually just pick up where I left off, using the 'skipped' day as an extra rest day (as important as 'work' days).

Think of it this way: worrying about skipping a workout causes stress....stress causes cortisol....and cortisol can lead to excess belly fat.

Me too. Sometimes RL just gets in the way. It's OK--most of the time it's unavoidable.

Some of the time it's intentional--rest days are needed!

:+ Thank you for that! I know that I will remember that!

If it's a cardio workout, I skip it. If it's a weight workout, I'll push it back one day and continue with whatever I plan to do from there.

I skip it. But, if it's a more important workout day, I'll just omit a lesser day and put the missed workout in there. :)

If it's a weight workout that I skip, I usually make it up somewhere (perhaps by skipping a future cardio workout). If it's cardio I miss, I usually let it go. Or, depending on what type of weight rotation I'm doing that month, I'll often change my next day's workout to a circuit. So, for example, if I skipped my cardio workout today, then I'll change tomorrow's total body weight workout into a circuit.
