As you may or may not know, the American Idol host has several other gigs, like DJ-ing a morning radio show, working with E! network news, etc, etc, etc. Plus he has a clothing line and interest in a restaurant. When would a guy with a schedule like that work out? He was on "Ellen" this week, and she asked him that very question. This is from a media blog I found online which paraphrases what he said:
"Ellen held up People Magazine & said he is one of 100 Most Beautiful. She wants to know cuz she heard he works out everyday. He said he tries to work out 5 days a week. He schedules it like a job. She said with his schedule she doesn’t know how he has time to workout. Ryan said he will do it sometimes outside the house, sometimes he does it at AI in between the rehearsal & live show. Ellen asked what he does. Ryan said he has a ball. Ellen said let’s talk about what you do. The audience laughed. Ryan pulled out this ball that looked like a volleyball (my note: it was a medicine ball). He said this is his gym right there. He said sometimes he will run & they toss the ball. It is heavy & they will squeeze it when they catch it. That helps the sides. Sometimes he runs up a hill & does lunges with the ball or go over the head or pass it back & forth. Ellen asked what it weighed. He said he didn’t know. Both say they aren’t good at figuring that out."
SO - I was thrilled to see that he used a med ball (I'm a huge med ball exercise fan) and that he make no excuses about why he can't work out.
The moral of this blurb is, if this dude can find time to work out, anyone can!
