Since I am new to the whole clean eating, it would be so helpful if you would share some of your favorites. Also, do you count calories?
Thank You!!

RE: Whats your favorite

Yes, I count calories daily. I need too or I tend to overeat.

My favorite whole clean eating snack is Heart to Heart Oatmeal - Brown Maple. That stuff is yummy and fills me up. I also have been into Organic Gala Apples as well, these really satisfy my sweet tooth!

RE: Whats your favorite

I follow Weight Watchers and my eating has significantly changed since this time last year. I follow the WW guidelines and points system to the T because I would cheat otherwise.

Some of my favorite snacks are:
grapes, grapes and MORE grapes
Gala Apples
Dannon FF yogurt (creamy)
FF/SF pudding with FF cool whip (don't know if this qualifies as clean)
raw baby carrots

Fruit

Yes, I do count calories. I shoot for no more than 1400 calories a day. Although I do Cathe, I have a desk job and I'll be 50 next month. The older I get, the more I've noticed a slowing of my metabolism.

RE: Whats your favorite

My new fave is:

Whole wheat tortilla with black beans, spinach, horseradish, and hot sauce.

HMMMMMMM- Maybe this is a pregnancy craving:9

RE: Whats your favorite

RE: Whats your favorite

fruit, fruit, and more fruit!
pure organic dark chocolate (just a bite!)
cottage cheese
baby carrots
WW bread w/ natural(sugar and salt free) peanut butter

RE: Whats your favorite

oh, and i do count calories. I have a desk job... i aim for 1400 calories a day. More if i have an extra tough workout, less if i'm not wokring out at all.

and i forgot my FAVORITE clean meal,

Spinach, red peppers, shrimp, sour cream/olive oil/feta (mixed up, just a little of each!), over WW pasta!! the sour cream/oil/cheese mixture has such a robust flavor that you use very little, so it stays healthy!

Happy eating! :9

RE: Whats your favorite

ff cottage cheese mixed w/ff yogurt is my current fave.

I also love this:

1 small whole wheat tortilla
Add:
1-2 tbsp peanut butter (I use Smucker's natural pb)
about a 1/4 of a bannana, sliced
handful of low-fat granola
drizzle w/honey and wrap it up.

You can also add a few raisins.

No I do not count calories - I'm doing BFL and I try to follow it to a T.

RE: Whats your favorite

Snacks or light meal (lunch or breakfast usually)
1. Apples
2. Yogurt
3. Strawberries and/or blueberries with low fat cottage cheese
4. Whole wheat toast (I like Nature's Own Double fiber bread...40 calories and 5 grams fiber per slice and it tastes good) with peanut butter
5. A handful of walnuts mixed with a few raisins
6. A slice of turkey and a slice of low fat swiss cheese (Alpine Lace is good) wrapped into a "roll"
7. Almonds
6. Triscuits with low fat cheese

RE: Whats your favorite

Organic fuji or gala apples are my favorite snack these days. Guess I have something in common with Debbie from Ohio. :)

RE: Whats your favorite

Two pieces of fruit and a yoghurt!

I'm very low key, me. And no, I don't count calories. I have no idea of how many calories I eat a day. I eat to fuel and to cover as many food groups, veggie and fruit servings per day as I can.

Rather than think calories, I think "this meal has protein, vits, some carb and fat and stacks of fibre?" Then I eat it, whether it's 200 cals or 2000. I haven't a clue.

Grapefruit

RE: Whats your favorite

I'm a Weight Watcher so I count points. I eat 99% clean 6 days a week and only stray on Saturdays. Fave clean foods:

oatmeal
apples
bananas
SF/FF plain yogurt with a little white chocolate SF pudding mix mixed in (border line clean in my book, but I think it tastes like cheesecake)
Carrots
Celery
egg beaters
chicken breast
mixed green salads
skim milk
grapes
lots of water

RE: Whats your favorite

I guess maybe I don't really have a "favorite" when it comes to clean eating items. I've eaten this quite a bit:
small sweet potato, peas, grilled chicken breast, mixed green salad with almonds/pecans/walnuts and lite dressing (dressing on the sweet potato too).

I can't count calories on a regular basis because I can easily become obsessed with the number. However, I will occasionally count just to get an idea of my intake. I'm surprised to find out that a lot of you are getting 1400-1600 cals per day. My word -- I eat close to 2500 and sometimes more (at 5'1" and 110). I think I would be a total B$%ch on 1400 cals.
