What's with the spam attacks?

Today, I've seen 4 different new "forum members" posting messages that are just links to various web sites and blogs (the first one was some incomprehensible fanfic-type blog).

Seems like everytime SNM removes them, more appear.

The latest are by coatwatch82 (which may disappear by the time you read this, LOL) and are rated 5 stars. (I went to post a 1-star rating, and got a message that I'd already rated the thread...I had not! Makes me wonder how far this person is getting into the system and what they are doing besides just posting obnoxious links...which I caution anyone against following, in case there's some spyware involved).

Kathryn, ironically, today I'm seeing a TON of spam posts on the fitness board that I've been at lately. Very strange typing, phrases, etc. At first I thought I just didn't understand the topic, but then I realized what it was. Hmmmmmm....wonder what's going on.

I noticed it too Kathryn - the spam and the unrateable threads. I've seen several threads that when I went to rate them, it told me I had already rated them when I know I hadn't.

I don't think they are getting too far into the system - the star thing has been a problem for me for a couple days. I'll go in to star a thread (not a spam thread, one from a posters I know) and it says I've already rated that thread when I haven't. So I think that is a seperate problem.
