What's the difference btwn a Nutritionist and an RD??

I know some of you see a nutritionist and some of you see a dietician. I've only seen dieticians in regard to my diabetes, and simply don't think I'm at the same place as them these days...

I need someone with an emphasis in sports nutrition or something (along the lines of Nancy Clark)... any tips for how I can go about finding one?? Any recommendations for my search are appreciated!!

Amy, there are Registered Dieticians that specialize in in sports nutrition and that's what I would look for.

Anyone can say they are a "nutritionist" because that title is not regulated. I would find someone that has the education and registration.

RD requires more education and training. I have a 4 year degree in Nutrition and can call myself a nutritionist. I did not go on to get my RD tho.

Amy, I think my nutritionist is just a registered dietician who calls herself a "nutritionist".
