New years eve, is the final day of the Gregorian year, and the day before New Year's Day.
New Year's Eve is a separate observance from the observance of New Year's Day. In modern Western practice, New Year's Eve is celebrated with parties and social gatherings spanning the transition of the year at midnight.
Many cultures use fireworks and other forms of noise making in part of the celebration.
So how, you are going to celebrate this new-year's eve ?
We normally don't do anything special. Not a huge partier and don't want to be out with all the intoxicated idiots on the road. Besides, I can't recall the last time I purposely saw midnight However, I've been suffering a bout of insomnia and just might make it!!!! But I really want to sleep. DS will probably go to bed normal time, and then I have a steak in the freezer, so going to make steak and who-knows-what for DH and I for dinner, and a nice bottle of wine. Probably no chamgpange, we prefer wine. And a snuggle on the couch, make our own New Year's fireworks
New Year's day we take down all the Christmas stuff. Bye-bye Christmas tree. I hate seeing all the undecorated trees out the curb. It's kinda sad. Poor little used up, nekkid Christmas tree.
going to be home. nan put it perfectly intoxicated idiots,even the best person one could know gets a little to wild for me on new year's eve.
besides dh has to work and its no fun to be alone when you are out.i will be home with my dd. going to see if she makes it LOL and praying my dh makes it home safe b/c its calling for some rough whether in our neck of the woods and dh works at the only club in the city and known to get wild on new year's eve. so its the same as it ever was, dh busting a hump to earn a living while dd and i hang out and watch the big ball drop in a warm safe home
nan-we too will take down our trees and lights. its so hard though b/c i love the weeks leading up to christmas just so joyful and happy and its hard to take all that down. but i try to work on the new year with some new ideas and we go through stuff getting rid of the old making room for the new and we donate everything that is still usable and in good shape so that keeps my giving spirit going too.
