What would you do if . . . ?

Cathlete
you had free access to a gym but could not do your Cathe workouts? That's going to be my situation for the month of January.

I'll be relocated within walking distance of a gym, but I won't be able to carry all my Cathe equipment.

HELP. I don't create my own workouts! That's why I love Cathe!

Mainly I'm trying to figure out what to do for weights. I have the Cathe compendium that LISTS all the exercises in each video, which helps a little. But it's the reps/speed and the days of the week that I need help with.

Any of you out there gym-lifters?

I think what I'd like is a CTX kind of plan: I'll do 30 to 45 min of cardio each day, plus one body part.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Laura

Hi,

Do you have the printed workout sheets that are on Excel? Maybe take those with you and do the excercises with weights that are on the sheets? Not sure if you have S&H but this is a great one for a one body part per day workout. For example, if you take the Slow & Heavy sheets with you, and you want to do one body part per day, do your cardio then follow the sheets for the body part you want to work on. You could do this with any of the weight workouts, but S&H is good because she works one part for about 30 minutes which you need to do if you are only going to work it once per week.

I would do what Deb said. And if you want to get the counts, sets, reps, etc just like the vids....I'd take the DVDs and watch them thru, writing down how many sets of squats, at what count/pace, and how many reps each. I'd get as detailed as possible!

I could do PUB/PLB in my SLEEP now! lol

Hi, Deb and Gayle. Thanks for your input.

Deb, I do have those sheets, which helps some. But what I'd love is a more specific breakdown like Gayle describes. Gayle, I'd do what you were saying, but there's a hitch. If you remember from the Road Trip, I'm the gal from Africa. So . . . most of my videos are over there. Otherwise I'd do what you're saying. It's a great idea.

Is there anyone out there who has actually done the detailed breakdown that Gayle is suggesting and would be willing to share your work?:)

Pretty please? :)

OMG, I would be in heaven if I had a gym within walking distance for free! Good lord have mercy!

I can email you my lifting routine if you PM me.

Laura-YES! I remember now. Let's see.........what time frame are you talking about? When will this change be happening for you? And what workouts are you interested in details for? I may be "so inclined" to do the detail breakdown for you. Let me know which workouts you'd like! (and just don't say "all of them except for these 2...."). lol

Hi Laura,

Do you have an iPod or other MP3 player? I ripped the audio from some of my weight work DVDs and put them on my iPod. Since I already knew the exercises themselves by heart, working with just the audio for reps/speed/motivation was just like working out at home.

Thanks, everyone, for the input.

LauraMax--I sent you a pm.

Gayle (banslug)--Yes! I'm glad you remember. You loaned me batteries on the RT, so if you help me out with videos, that'd be 2 favors you've done me. I think the Gym Style workouts are probably the ones that'd be most helpful. I actually wouldn't need the workouts till about mid-Jan. I sent you my email on a pm because I won't necessarily be able to check the forums regularly as of Jan 5. (Actually, I realized that if you have your RT book, you ought to have my email. But I sent it on a pm just in case.)

Gayle (Gayle)--What great idea. I do have an ipod, and I'll remember your suggestion for the future. Like you, I know most of the workouts well enough to cue off the audio. However, since I don't have my videos with me (back home in Africa), I can't use that option now. But it's a good one to keep in mind.

Alright, Laura....now you've given me a project to work on! I got your email and will sit down sometime soon and workout the details on the GS. I'll be in touch!

Thanks so much, Gayle!!!:)

Now I'll owe you another favor!

I actually love having specific breakdowns for workouts--I've done it for Low Max and Imax 2 & 3 so I'll know which drills are coming next.

Once I get back to Africa (where I have my videos), I can polish those up (for readability) and share them with anyone interested. Unfortunately, I just don't have it for a weights breakdown yet.

:)
