What would you do E-Bay

How did they pay you? If it was paypal and you have proof of the delivery confirmation or even just faxing them a copy of the receipt has helped me. How often are you going to mail to that same zip, know what I mean?

Contact UPS or USPS or however you sent it & get a copy of the delivery confirmation. DO NOT refund the money. I'm pretty sure delivery confirmation comes with insurance, but even if not there's got to be some way to file a claim.

Did they pay through Paypal? I think Paypal has some mechanisms to resolve these kinds of issues.

Hopefully Fitmom will weigh in, I think she's got an ebay cottage industry going on, she knows lots about it.

If you sent the confirmation proof to paypal then don't even worry about it. Paypal will see for themselves that it was delivered. I had a lady do this to me once. It was an old apothecary candy jar. Stupid me didn't get confirmation. Believe me, I have learned after that one.

I was sent a package that was "confirmed" that it was delivered. It had been over a week of the confirmed delivery and I still never recieved it. I accused the sender of not sending the item. He said he did and that delivery was confirmed. We both contacted the Post office. The post office told us they would look for it. finally we all decided it was lost. The sender was about to refund my money when
a neighbor down the street came over and handed me the package!! She said she had it for over a week and finally decided to bring it over! I was furious at her, that B*#$%H }( (although I didn't show it. I don't know her LOL!). I contacted the sender and told him my neighbor brought it over. I apologized and totally felt like a total idiot accusing him of not really sending it. He was very nice through the whole scenario.

So, at least with the United states post office a confirmation just means it's delivered, but not necessarily to you, and there really isn't anything they can do if it's lost. I always ask the sender to send requiring a "signature" for delivery. This has cured all lost deliveries for me.

I would refund to avoid bad feedback. Especially if it was a cheap item. Bottom line, next time, ask for a signature delivery when sending or recieving. It's such a simple way to protect yourself.

If it was a confirmed delivery, it's obviously not your fault and I wouldn't refund anything. You did everything you needed to. Either they are lying or the post office screwed up. Either way, not your fault. They didn't insure. They bear the risk of post office screw ups.

I would ask the buyer to check with neighbors. This has happened to us at my job. We have a confirmation of shipping and they insisted that they never recieved it. UPS had to refund us our money for the item and then we reshipped the item. I'm guessing that because there wasn't insurance though that UPS isn't going to refund you your money.
Good luck. That sucks that this is happening to you.

Just a suggestion-it's what I do...In the future, so that there are no questions, be sure to write in your auctions "seller not responsible for lost/stolen items if insurance not taken!", that way they know what the deal is up front and you can not be held responsible. :)

Confirmation says they got it. That is your proof, let e-bay know about it.

I have had people send me confirmation on items besides eBay. My mail carrier told me that sometimes the post office will actually hold mail because of mail counts. So if you have confirmation, it is proof positive.
