What was your epiphany?

Nancy, I've just started seeing Body Electric very early in the mornings here. How could you not love Margaret Richard, she's fit and sooo funny!

My epiphany came at 30 years of age when I finally realised that I needed to be responsible for my own health. Some one very dear to me had a health crisis and was seemingly very fit, all of a sudden our life was about health maintenance and I was hit like a ton of bricks with the thought 'how can I take care of something that I have never maintained??? I was heavy all of my life and was suddenly overwhelmed with curiosity at what lay beneath the layers and rolls. Fast forward 8 months and about 50 lbs later and surprise, surprise, I was not the big boned Girl that I always thought that I was.

Take Care
Laurie:)

Mine was just vanity I think, the realization after I passed age 35, then 36, then 37 etc. that I was "loosing my figure" and didn't feel attractive anymore. I also realized that my metabolism wasn't keeping me thin anymore. That was depressing because I knew I was going to have to work hard at it. I started with TaeBo and lost weight but it wasn't until I discovered Cathe that the muscles started to show and I saw my figure again. THAT was when I felt success and that I was turning things around for myself. I went from feeling frumpy to feeling strong and healthy and thin. YEah!!!! :7

LauraMax,

I LOVED when Linda Hamilton chambered a round in her shotgun with only ONE hand! That was too cool!

While I've always been (hyper);) active , I haven't always eaten properly or weighed a healthy amount--due to the above eating problems. But a year ago July 13, my DH's work was enrolling for Weight Watchers meetings and I decided it was time.

My epiphany for strength has been hanging around with my Texas girls, with their physiques and encouragement.

I actually wanted to have that toned/cut look way back when, but never wanted to put in the work. Now though Marla, Shonie, Jes, Pinky and last but certainly NOT least, my soon to be trainer Laura, have talked me into starting with the strength.

I think she means Laura who is Libra1971?? I think that is right. They both live in the same town, so that would be logical.

In the past ten years, my Mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer and both rheumatoid and osteo arthritis. She won the battle with breast cancer but continues her battle with the two forms of arthritis. I have watched her go from a very active woman to one that has very little strength and even less endurance. About a year ago one of my pinkies started to exhibit the signs of arthritis and it hit me that I am also likely to develop one or more of her conditions. So I began to incorporate weight training into my exercise regimen. Though I still have a way to go before I reach my final goals, I am looking and feeling better physically than I have since high school. I am determined that if I have to fight one of these medical battles, I will do it starting from the top of the hill rather than the bottom. Threads like Kit's which show how important fitness is even in light of having to overcome such difficulties, are further inspiration.

Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 also got me too, but before that (I am a bit older), definitely Cory Everson (before implants) and the lovely Rachel Mclish....:)...Carole

I've always loved cardio & just running around alot as a kid but as I got older I totally admired Rachel Mclish (she's from "down the shore" I think Corpus Christie or Galveston Texas). Then I loved how Madonna got in shape, although she got skinny for a while there. I even read an article that when Linda Hamilton wanted to get buff for the Terminator 2, she stated to her trainer she wanted a better back than Madonna's. I was blown away by her statement.

Demi & Madonna still look incredible.
