What Vitamins/Supplements do you take?

My next challenge is to stick with taking vitamins as I seem to always forget and so I just don't take any anymore.
What do you take? How often?

I take a large variety of supplements. It is practically a meal! I have found they help a lot with pms and perimenopause.

Having said that, I tend to dread sitting down with a large glass of water and choking down all those horsepills, so I put it off and usually ended up skipping them. Because my husband and I really notice a differance when I am good about it, he nicely asks me if I have taken my vitamins and if I haven't he gets them for me;-)

The system I came up with is every week I put all of my bottles on the counter. I line up those little snack sized ziplock bags and make piles of what I am supposed to take each day. This makes it really easy to grab a little baggie and take my supplements. Also, if I am going away for a couple of days I can grab as many as I need and take them with me. I just reuse the bags each week and I am all set.

Dani- great idea! I have my bottles lined up on the table, but they have dusty tops. LOL. I think if I took the time to put them all in a baggie, it might work for me.

I take the Vitality Pack from Melaleuca. It's mutlivitamin and mineral supplements. I take them twice a day. In the afternoon with lunch and again with dinner.

Vitamin supplements can be ridiculously expensive. The kind I take supposedly absorb a lot better than the typical Centrum type. I can't say with totaly certainty that I feel any better using these than I did with Centrum. But I'm definitely healthier than not taking any vitamins at all. Colds are rare, and short-lived if they do hit.

I usually have a morning smoothie (or use it as a mid-morning snack) that I put some type of meal replacement vitamin-mineral-protein powder in ( usually "Vegan Complete") as well as ground flax, or a flax/glucosamine joint powder. On days that I don't do this, I will take a multivitamin. I also take a spritz of sublingual B12 spray a couple of times a week.

If you are considering adding supplements to your diet, take into account other sources of vitamins/minerals you may be consuming, such as cereals, drink mixes, etc. You don't want to get too much vitamin A (especially if it's not betacarotene), vitamin D or iron.

I personally take one multi vitamin, and because it doesn't have a lot of vitamin E, I take 2 400 mg vitamin E's and because it doesn't have a lot of vitamin C I take 1 1000 mg vitamin C. Then to top it all off I also take a calcium supplement. I take these every night after dinner to ward off any bad stomach problems that might occur from taking them in the morning. I tend to get a little bit of an upset stomach from the multi vitamin. I have medical reasons for taking all these darn vitamins. Most people don't need that much Vitmain E

I like to keep it simple - I take a Viactiv Multivitamin chew every day. I absolutely cannot deal with those ENORMOUS multivitamin pills - they are so huge and my throat just closes up when I try to swallow one. Since they came out with the Viactiv chews in a multivitamin formula, it really has been the best way for me to get my vitamins.

I try to eat a varied and balanced diet so that I get most of the vitamins and minerals I need from my food, rather than needing supplements. But, my diet ain't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, so the Viactiv chew helps me out where I might be lacking. Yes, it's chocolate flavored and it's got sugar in it - but it's probably better than not taking a multivitamin supplement at all. :)

I take a multi-vitamin, extra C and calcium with magnesium and vitamin D. I tried taking a B-complex, but it hurt my stomach so much I had to stop.

Organic Liquid Vitamin B-Complex w/ Vitamin C, combined with a Mineral Complex and a Calcium Complex.

Also, Vitamin A&D and Organic Liquid Vitamin E.

And taking extra liquid organic Calcium to help the bones/joints due to all the impact of exercise.

I take it EVERYDAY, once a day!

I think this stuff rocks!! With it being LIQUID, it gets to work immediately. Forget those horse pills. I hate them.

It works really well because you are only opening up all those bottles once a week! Phew!! Also, I can take them throughout the day if I need to...occasionally one will go down sort of wrong and I have to wait a while, the phone will ring etc. Regardless, but the end of the day my little baggie is empty.

I am very much against pills/supplements unless you truly have a medical need. Any normal person eating a well balanced diet should not need all sorts of pills and supplements.

I take one multivitamin a day only because my doctor recommends it due to low blood pressure and I am always bordering on anemia. And as long as I consume 3 servings of dairy a day I more than meet my calcium needs.

Get your nutrients from real food, not from bottles and cans.

A multi. Up to two Viactiv calcium chews if I haven't hit my dairy goals for the day. And two glucosamine chondriotin soft gels for joint problem.

i keep it simple too:

a multi
calicium
omega fish capsule
glucosamine/chondroitin

i take them with my breakfast...

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I take a multi-vitamin suplement once a day, multi-mineral suppliment twice a day, omega 3-6-9 twice a day and psyllium husks twice a day.

I take a multi, Vit E and Vit C with breakfast. 45min-1hr after breakfast I take L-Glutamine Powder with water and I have a shake of whey protein usually with lunch. When I remember to buy flax seed I add that to yogurt or cereal and I have it too, but it's not a daily thing. I used to take a lot more supplements but it gets expensive after awhile. I've been sticking to those mentioned above for awhile now and I don't miss the others, neither does my body.
