What type of barbell do you use?

Hi! This question is for those who are lifting very heavy in addition to Cathe workouts.

What type of barbell do you use for your workouts? I'm looking at the Troy light system, as I know that's what Cathe uses in some of her workouts, but that one only goes up to 40 pounds. Ideally, I'd like something that dresses up much higher than that, as I lift very heavy on non cardio days. (I'm trying to find one system that will suit both purposes, so I don't have to buy a separate bar just for Cathe sessions.)

Thanks.

Hi Lisa,
I have the Troy lite and LOVE it. You can order more plates. When I ordered I ordered 60lbs. (The Troy lite max is 80lbs I believe).

Good luck with your purchase:D

I have the old Firm barbell, which I like because of the padded bar. When it needs to be replaced, I might go with the Ivanko one which is also padded - I like the Troy Lite one but don't know if it is compatible with the weight plates I have.

I also have the Troy Lite (in fact, I recently ordered a second one so I don't have to change weights so much). I love it!

I use troy lite. It goes up to 80 pounds, it come with the 5 lbs bar. You can also just purchase heavier bars, I believe they go up to 20 or 25 lbs.

Which one???

I hate changing weights all the time...so I've got a heavy 18 lb bar with the ends that "turn" on and I keep that very heavy for heavy days. Then I got a 15 bar that I keep pretty heavy (clips at the end). Then I got two of the bars that are similar to the troy lite and can go up to 80 pounds. (They are 5 pound bars). I know 4 bars, but I use them all and don't have to switch up weights as much...laziness I suppose!! Also, when I'm adding only 5 pounds or so to each side...I like to throw on the weights and use clips (you know those plastic clip/clamps) from farm and fleet to hold these on. They are MUCH easier to throw on and I've found them to be safe when only adding light weights to the bar. I hold the heavy weights on with the standard bar clamp that came with the bar. Also, also, I buy those swim noodles from walmart and slit them open and duck tape them to the bar for a bar pad. They help my neck tremendously when I go really heavy.

Hey DebbieH...do you have that sight that has those "really cheap" bars...I bought 2 of them and don't regret it!! I think they are great. :7 :7 :7
