I love the 80s, even though I was a little one then. I love Separate Ways, by Journey. ALso, I love Take on Me and St. Elmo's Fire. What do you all love??

Great question! I'm putting together my first playlist on my iPod and was just thinking this same thing this morning.

The two that comes on all the time and gets my heart going are:

Another One Bites the Dust and
All Star by Smashmouth....the song from Shrek!

(they're the only ones I can think of right now, though)

80's music but I have way to many favorites to pick just one. Most of my 80's music is not good for my kiddos either. I love Guns N Roses Welcome to the Jungle and AcDC (shoot to thirll (something like that) Thunderstruck.

Quite Honestly I love and can appreciate all music styles.

Im a rock person, new and classic when it comes to working out!

-although i have to say i LOVE all the songs on cathe's workouts

I have to keep changing songs to stay motivated. Every month or so I have a different favorite. I can tell the song is getting old when it gets harder to get my heart rate up to 160. When I love the song, my heart rate soars!

For about 3 months I used Won't Get Fooled Again by the Who. That song is so motivating for me. I got the idea from CSI Miami. Currently, I'm crazy about Olivia Newton John Live with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Before that it was several Earth, Wind & Fire songs. And on it goes. Thank goodness itunes is only 99 cents per song!

My current faves are:

"Ready, Steady, Go"-Paul Oakenfield

"Stronger"-Kanye West

"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"-Daft Punk

I love house/techno music when I do cardio, hard rock like Ozzy Osbourne when I lift. I like remixes of the old 80's wave stuff--Pet Shop Boys,New Order, etc...

Great topic! I've been putting together a playlist ever since I decided to buy an MP3 player...still don't have the MP3 player but I do have some good songs ready and waiting: LOCOMOTIVE (Jethro Tull) because that flute gets me going every time! AMERICAN GIRL (Tom Petty) BROWN EYED GIRL (Van Morrison) BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS (Green Day) THAT SMELL (Lynard Skynard)... gosh, I really have to get that MP3 player!

I'm a classic rock girl myself! And the longer the song is the better... My faves for those days when I have to log some serious time on the treadmill include: Free Bird( Skynyrd) Layla (Clapton), and a bunch of songs from Meatloaf. ( Paradise from the Dashboard Light, Bat out of Hell, and Anything for Love.)

All of these songs are at least 6 minutes or longer.. For some reason, its alot easier for me to tell myself I only have to listen to 5-6 songs and then I'll be done then to have a bunch of shorter songs. ( The games we play with ourselves, huh?:)

Take care, Lynn M.

I love the '80s too! My favorite treadmill song is Move Along by the All-American Rejects, always keeps me movin'!! ;-)

I like a bit of everything. But my fave is prob late 80s early 90s hair metal. I discovered the other day that Motley Crue's "Dr Feelgood" album goes really well with KPC.

Oh, yeah, kick start my heart!!!!

I really like the current hip-hop songs that have a fast tempo for cardio and I love classic rock for lifting. I have found cd's such as cardio fit are great for days when I have no motivation! I get these from www.fitisitcardio.com

Love the 80's, and throw in the New Romantics (Duran Duran, Ultra Vox, Yazoo, The Cure, New Order)Synthesiser music days! Yeah! Plus Some classic U2. Then, theres Van Halen 80's early 90's. And the band with the one armed drummer, I've gone blank! As soon as I post this the name will come to me, and they are really really good! A bit of Cheap Trick too, Oh I could go on and on for eva, ...........those where the good old days.

They didn't have any hip hop douff douff, I've got a "headache music" (back in those good old days)

I listen to all sorts of things to get me motivated. My favorites are Aerosmith, Dep Leppard, Queen. Lately it's been Stronger by Kanye West and Pink.

Andrea-

I love Cheap Trick too!! "Surrender" and "I Want You to Want Me" are great songs for motivation. ( I have both on my IPod!)

PS. Def Lepard is the band w/ the one armed drummer.

Lynn M.

"Rebellion (Lies)," "Keep the Car Running," or "Television Antichrist Blues" by Arcade Fire.

As for old stuff, it would be "Bastards of Young" by the Replacements, The Ramones' cover of "Substitute," and "USA" by the Pogues.

Lynn thanks.

I got out of bed this morning and went "DEF LEPARD" DoH!

I love Surrender!! It is a really good workout tune.

Andrea

Once a hard rock chick....always a hard rock chick! Lately, any song off of Papa Roach's Paramour Sessions! It's the BEST workout CD! Every song on it is super high energy and great for pumping iron or doing cardio. Of Course, Buckcherry's Crazy Bitch also gets me going! and The Red Hot Chili Pepper's Suck my Kiss!
