I have: drill max, hardcore extreme, imax, imax 2/c&w, superset/push pull, power hour, mis, mic, body max, rhythmic step, timesaver.

I have exercised for over 20 years, am high intermediate/low advanced over-40 fitness instructor. I want to do some serious weight training at home & see some serious results by summer, maybe using some kind of split series to add to my rotation. Can't afford STS right now.

should i buy pyramids & boot camp/muscle endurance OR gym style set?

I tried chalean but she wasn't my favorite & recently have been doing ripped series with less than great results, esp. legs.

Am also thinking about adding butts n guts & muscle max.

any suggestions are appreciated! thanks! L

I love Butts & Guts and Bootcamp/Muscle Endurance. I also have her Gym Style Legs and love it. I also really like the Slow & Heavy set. It's great because you can go HEAVY -- if you're looking to build more muscle.

Pyramids, Gym Style, and Slow and Heavy are all excellent in my opinion.

I am currently rotating the Gym Style with the Pure Strength with Shock Cardio.

I am revisiting the Slow and Heavy -- I had forgotten how great these workouts are!

Slow and Heavy is demanding - not easy at all if you work at a challenging weight for yourself.

I really love Muscle Max for a workout that targets every body part.

I use Muscle Max as a fill in workout on weeks that I feel the need to work all major muscle groups.

Butts and Guts is awesome, but targets the lower body and abs, of course.

I say go for the Gym Styles and Butts and Guts. They are quite a bit different from what you have and will definitely help you "shock your body."

I'd go for the Gym Style Series, however if you can afford it, just the STS Mesocycle 2 set (not sure you can purchase one part here, know you can at collage). I like Slow & Heavy too but that's a bit more mentally taxing so I dont do it routinely. The other weight workouts you listed seem more muscle-endurance and less strength oriented.

thanks for all the input! more thoughts:
I agree Stacy that it seems the videos i have gear towards muscular endurance & i do want to add some heavier work.
I forgot about slow & heavy - i'll have to look at those again.
I'm leaning towards gym style now but i'll also look into the meso2 that one of you recommended.
thanks...kl

stacy - now that I've looked at meso2 I'm really liking it!! & in fact the $ i have to spend is in a gift certificate at collage for $130. could it be fate. does cathe recommend doing 2 without doing 1 first - can you do them out of order? anyone?

You definitely don't need to do Meso 1 to do Meso 2. In my opinion, they can all be stand alone cycles. I love Meso 2!

I also wanted to add that I did NOT figure out my 1 rep max's before I started STS. I did print out the workout sheets and just made note of what weight I used and adjusted as I went along. In fact I repeated each week twice before moving on. The second time was even better than the first b/c of the weight adjustments I made.

Of STS. I also vote for Meso 2!

I love all of STS, but Meso 2 is my fave!

And I honestly find all the Mesos to be mutually exclusive.

And I never took time to do the One Rep Max, I am ashamed to admit. It seemed too time consuming and boring. But that is just me. I know I still got results with STS.

After some tweaking, I found the challenging weight for me and during the drop sets I did calculate the 20 to 30% back off poundage.

I like them all, but GYM STYLES is my favorite! I did Buts & Guts yesterday. It's a LOVE/HATE thing. lol!

I would get Slow and Heavy. It's my fave for serious heavy weight training. I have Slow and Heavy and Gym Styles, and I really prefer S&H overall.
