What is your Good Power Food?

Besides the usual clean eating habits, and besides the popular PEANUT BUTTER posts :9 , what do you eat or drink to give you maximum energy for Cathe's workouts.

Personally, I eat spinach whenever I feel like I'm running out of energy. It must be the iron that does it!

What works for you guys?

I know there's been a lot of talk on peanut butter lately, but when I need a boost, I have a banana with peanut butter. It really helps me!
 
I love an apple with peanut or almond butter. It really curves my craving for sweets and gives me a definite pick me up.
 
Besides PB on toasted Ezekiel bread, I love pineapple and cottage cheese!!!! (just had it for lunch actually)}( :9
 
My power food before or after all my workouts is 3 tablespoons of cashews and 1/2 cup of blueberries or an apple cut up. Love the taste and it gets me through all the tough workouts:)

I enjoy bananas with or without peanut butter and apples with or without peanut butter.

I love fresh blueberries, I just wash and eat them.

I never eat before a cardio workout but if I need a boost later in the day I have a bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal with skim milk, Smuckers natural PB on Ezekiel bread or a Dannon light & fit with blueberries mixed in. I also like a handful of almonds or cashews.

I don't know whose heard of these but the Naked Juice Mango drink gives me a great energy kick. That's been just lately.
 
My post workout snack is usually a glass of OJ and a handful of raw almonds. When I know I'm going to do an intense Cathe workout in the morning I eat a bowl of oatmeal and a hardboiled egg about an hour before my workout.
 
My Power food is Malt O Meal with 1/2 banana, and a 1/2 oz of chopped peanuts mixed in. It keeps me totally fueled for any long endurance activity I have to do. Plus, its fairly easy on the tummy (for me anyways).

Interesting to see almost everyone has peanuts or peanut butter..so I'm not alone on that. I eat almonds or peanut butter about every day. The oatmeal is also a good idea, even with blueberries on it!!!:p

I guess I was looking to see if there was anything special or different that I'm missing that helps refuel the body better.

One thing I love (and my husband and daughter) is Smoothies! I find they taste better than just yogurt and can be more filling. I don't measure much, but here's what I put in my mix and share it w/the family: (feel free to adjust to taste!)

5-6 ice cubes
7 strawberries
1/2 banana
2-3 tbsp peanut butter
1 c. yogurt (or sometimes less)

I also sometimes add a splash of milk.

Hope you try this out. You'll love it. It's good any time of day!
 
I actually don't like peanut butter, uhhh unless it has reese's in front of it! LOL
I usually eat a kashi bar after a workout if I am hungry. I eat lunch about an hour before I workout.

It really just depends on what kind of mood I'am in,love the different low sodium trail mixes,fruit+pb,smoothie,lately its been those Sugar free Russell Stovers ceral bars!:9

Wow Amy, the Sugar Free Stovers cereal bars sound so good. I have
never seen them. I have found Larabars recently to be so delicious
and also very filling! All flavors work for me.
