i have read about the recommended water "dosage" and i want to know if tea and coffee and crystal light (things that are mainly comprised of water) count toward your daily intake??? please say yes. If i drink as much water as we are supposed to i spend all day going to the bathroom!!!! how do you it and get anything done???

Jes - there's a lot of debate about what should and should not be included in daily water intake counts. I drink green tea over ice, but I don't make it very strong. I drink about 80 oz. of that per day then just water after I get home from work. I keep a 40 oz. plastic jug at my desk so I can keep track of how much I'm drinking. After a while you get used to it and don't have to run to the bathroom as much. I can really tell a difference in my weight and my appearance when I don't drink my water (or tea).

I believe it's strictly water. Drinking anything with caffiene, coffee/tea/soda, should be replaced with a glass of water. I only drink water and two cups of coffee in the morning, and occasionally milk. The only time I have many bathroom breaks is in the morning after coffee and a couple of glasses of water, then it slows down later in the day. Your body gets used to it after a week or two. Plus, if you drank 64oz of crystal light you'd go to the bathroom just as often.

I haven't read it but many people on this board have recommended the book, "your body's many cries for water" (not sure if that's the correct title). I've been meaning to check it out myself.

Ok thanks. i have heard of that book too. I am just used to drinking only when i eat. i don't think about otherwise and i have a tiny bladder! i have a cup of coffee in am and water the rest of the time. sometimes tea with dinner but i never can finish a whole glass. thanks for the responses.

Your coffee and tea would not count, but I you can count your crystal light or flavored waters, etc. They are water & they count. I think that something mildly flavored (like the green tea mixture above) woudl count too. Sometimes I will mix soem OJ in with water (like a 1 part to 4 part mixture) and I count that for water too.

I stick with water mostly, usually with one bottle of flavored or carbonated water per day. I keep a 24 ounce sport bottle on my desk for water and consciously try to drink at least one in the morning, one with lunch and one in the afternoon. Then I have water with my workout and water at home with dinner. It is a lot of water and I don't do it every day (esp. when I am busy) but I try to keep it in mind and suck it down!
