Last night my DH and I were on the east side of Manhattan, when I looked at my watch and realized that our 8:00 show, which was on the far west side, was going to start in 20 minutes. I looked at DH and said "we're going to have to move fast."
As a 50-yr. old who smoked for half her life, I have never been able to run, so I figured I would do a run-walk interval thing across town. I started to run the very long blocks from Avenue to Avenue, but I didn't feel the need to slow down and walk, so I kept running! We arrived at the theatre with more than 10 minutes to spare, my DH trailing behind me huffing and puffing and I suddenly noticed something: not only wasn't I huffing and puffing, but I was breathing normally!!!
Now, I don't do much cardio. I try to do about 40-45 minutes on Saturday, and maybe another 40-45 on Sunday, if possible. Apparently, that's all it takes! My lung capacity is better than it's ever been in my life, and my resting heart rate is nice and low.
Gotta love that cardio!
