What have been the results on the Crew?

Hi Cathe - how long have you and the crew been STS'ing? I mean while you and the crew have been preparing for the filming what have the results been so far for Mercedes, Jai, Brenda...etc.

Thanks.

Carmen

I have asked this question, but in a different manner. I wanted to know if they had anyone following the STS program as designed . . . and what results they experienced. It's doubtful that those filming the program are actually following the entire program before release. I still think it would be helpful to know what results some experienced. I am only looking for the results of a test group and not a controlled scientific study.

I am only

EXACTLY! results along the lines of what p90x did with their test group of the exact program (although not scientific) prior to the release...

i'm getting the idea that a true (non-scientific) test was not done (i also get the idea that the program is still being developed and that's why no test group.... you can't test something that hasn't been developed unless you want them to wait an additional 3 months to release it to us!)

so although periodizatin has been used over the years... i'm thinking/getting the impression from snm's answers that this exact program/grouping of exercises has not been test grouped....

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

So the direct question is. . . Is anyone doing the program in its entirety before release that can talk about their own personal results?

As we have stated before (please read our previous post on this) we have not and do not have any current plans on conducting a scientific or pseudo scientific study of STS or of any weightlifting or cardio program we have done in the past or may develop in the future.

Unlike nearly any other company making fitness videos today we own our own 60,000 square ft Gym and have been in the health club business for over 25 years. We get to practice our craft 364 days per year, not just for the occasional focus group. Our club serves as our lab and is where we perfect all of our fitness routines. If we didn’t own our own club, like other fitness video companies, it would be absolutely necessary to bring in outside focus groups to test workouts.

For the last 20 years or so I have probably seen over 100 fitness infomercials all of which have outstanding before and after testimonials no matter how worthless the product. I’m sure that many of the testimonials are true, but many are not. From a marketing standpoint I will admit they work great, but on the truth index I usually find them lacking.

I remember a long time ago a customer sent us before and after pictures and a very long testimonial saying how Cathe had changed her life and finally made it possible for her to have the body she always dreamed of. About four months later the exact same pictures and the exact same letter appeared in a major fitness magazine saying how another popular fitness video series had given this same person the body she had always dreamed of. I’m sure many people to this day were inspired by this persons amazing success story. The only problem is it was not true and this is the problem with testimonials you see in magazines and on TV. Since they are not true scientific studies, conducted by a credible and independent organization, you have no way of knowing if they’re true or not.

Obviously, no business in their right mind would release a study about a product they were selling that wouldn’t be positive. Even if we were to conduct a study you would have no idea what other variables contributed to the person’s success; such as diet and other physical activities done outside of the study.

There are plenty of true independent studies that have been done on periodization and the principles that STS is founded on. These are not studies done by us, but by independent researchers’ at major universities. There is nothing in STS that is new or invented by us. These same principles have been used by trainers and strength coaches for decades. We use these same principles and exercises all the time in our health club to train our clients and members. Most of the exercises in STS are tried and true basics that Cathe and our club trainers have used for years. Cathe has also tested and tweaked many of the moves in STS in her many Group Fitness classes that she teaches weekly in our club. We have also consulted iEMG studies on exercise effectiveness and have conducted numerous test groups with employees and members to make STS into what we feel will be the best strength training program on market today.

We realize that testimonials are inspiring for many and that is why we include a section in our forums for our customers to honestly share their results with fellow forum members. But the difference between what we do and what an infomercial does is that the success story comes from you, not us. I’m not knocking infomercials and perhaps one day we will do one too, it’s just that marketing’s purpose is to sell a product and to put a positive a spin on any product they sell – not to be scientific or 100% truthful. Again, you will never see a fitness product that will have a negative testimonial. Cherry picking success stories tells the consumer nothing, but it does sell product.

So if you’re looking for testimonials from us it’s not something we plan on doing as it is just not our style.
